Abrams Busts Van Alstyne

Level 19 : 3,000/6,000, 0 ante

We arrived at the table in time to find James Van Alstyne all in and at risk before the flop against Brandon Gerson and Scott Abrams. The latter duo were still playing heads up for a side pot.

The flop came down {5-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{9-Spades} and Gerson checked. Abrams led out and Gerson called to see a turn. The {3-Spades} rolled off on fourth and both players checked, allowing the {6-Clubs} to complete the board. Gerson checked and Abrams cut out one final bet. Gerson called and Abrams tabled {K-Spades}{k-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{A-Diamonds} playing his two kings for the high and ace-deuce for the nut low.

Gerson's hand was no good and Van Alstyne stood from the table, mucking his cards as well. Abrams scooped and score the elimination, bringing his stack to 310,000.

Wattel Makes a Crying Call

Level 19 : 3,000/6,000, 0 ante

We found Mike Wattel tanking on a board of {q-Spades}{j-Spades}{6-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{3-Spades}. He had checked out of the blinds and saw Joe Mitchell bet.

"I call," Wattel said with an audible sigh.

Sure enough, Mitchell showed {a-Spades}{2-Spades}{10-Spades}{10-Hearts} for the nuts both ways.

Wattel winged his hand into the muck.

Bonomo Busts Rast

Level 18 : 2,500/5,000, 0 ante
Brian Rast busted late on Day 2.
Brian Rast busted late on Day 2.

Justin Bonomo put in a raise on fourth street that put Brian Rast all in, and Rast called on the {j-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}{9-Clubs} board.

Rast: {j-Hearts}{j-Spades}{a-Spades}{9-Spades}
Bonomo: {a-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{6-Spades}

Both players had aces and nines, but Rast's set was a notch better.

"I have a straight draw," Bonomo said, as his {9-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} was open-ended with the board's {j-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}. The river was the {q-Spades}, filling Bonomo's straight to send Rast to a painful exit.
