Skullman Loses Battle of the Card Protectors

Level 5 : 100/200, 0 ante

Gerald David, affectionately known as "Skullman," has lost a little ground, but is still armed with more than his starting stack.

David raised to 475 from early position and placed his silver skull card protector on his cards and adopted a pose similar to the one Phil Hellmuth is known for.

The button called and placed a yellow rubber duck on his cards to protect them and the battle was set: Skull versus duck.

It was a brief battle because David checked on the {K-Hearts}{5-Spades}{7-Clubs} flop and then folded to a 600 bet from "Duckman." Quack, quack.

Brenes Busts and Reenters

Level 5 : 100/200, 0 ante

Humberto Brenes has taken advantage of the late registration policy in this event as he attempts to notch up a tenth cash of the series. We spotted Brenes a few minutes with his trademark plastic shark, seated next to Erica Lindgren. But on our last visit to the tournament floor, he was gone.

A few minutes later, Brenes reappeared having bought in again.

Massey Busts One

Level 5 : 100/200, 0 ante

Ralph Massey was heads-up against an all in player and had the best of it with {a-Hearts}{q-Diamonds} versus {a-Clubs}{j-Clubs}. The flop was {2-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{4-Hearts} and Massey stayed safe, but the {j-Hearts} turn paired his opponent.

A fourth heart came though with the {5-Hearts} river and Massey's flush was good to bust a player and increase his stack.

Tilly Takes a Big One

Level 4 : 75/150, 0 ante

A player raised to 400 from early position and it was called by another opponent and Jennifer Tilly from the small blind. The flop was {7-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{5-Spades} and the original raiser bet 600. His second opponent folded, but Tilly called. The turn was the {2-Clubs} and Tilly checked. Her opponent bet 1,000 and she raised to 3,000.

After getting a count, Tilly's opponent moved all in and Tilly quickly called, tabling {7-Diamonds}{7-Spades}. Her set was ahead of the {j-Diamonds}{j-Clubs} of her opponent and her hand held after the {10-Hearts} fell on the river.
