Hand 2: Frank Patti opened for 32,000, and Jorge Vergara shoved all in on the button. Action folded back to Patti, who called.

Patti: {q-Spades}{q-Diamonds}
Vergara: {10-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}

The {j-Spades}{2-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}{4-Hearts} runout left Patti's queens best, and Vergara was the first to fall here at the final table.

Cornel Medes Eliminated in 10th Place ($18,472)

Level 22 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
Cornel Medes was eliminated in 10th place.
Cornel Medes was eliminated in 10th place.

Cornel Medes has been nursing a small stack since the start of play today, and he got it in ahead when he pushed {k-Spades}{k-Clubs} to the initial raise from Danny Nguyen. Nguyen made the call and was behind with {q-Spades}{j-Spades}, but the suited cards connected on the flop of {2-Spades}{a-Spades}{4-Spades}. Now Medes needed more spades to get the better flush with his king, but the turn and river fell {7-Hearts}{6-Hearts} and Medes was eliminated in 10th for $18,472. We now have our official final table.

Level 22 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

John Fontana opened the action with a raise from middle position to 33,000. David Inselberg pushed his remaining 177,000 from the cutoff and Chris Hunichen called from the small blind. Fontana got out of the way and Inselberg showed {j-Spades}{j-Diamonds} while Hunichen flipped up {8-Spades}{8-Hearts}. The board ran out {q-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{a-Diamonds} and Inselberg found a double up.

Another Shorty Doubles, Medes Left Short

Level 22 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

Action folded to Cornel Medes, who shipped from the cutoff. John Fontana called off his 124,000 in the small blind.

Fontana: {a-Spades}{9-Hearts}
Medes: {a-Hearts}{10-Spades}

"Son of a biscuit," Fontana muttered, keeping things PG.

The {5-Clubs}{k-Hearts}{5-Hearts} flop brought hope for a chop, but it was the {9-Spades} turn that gave Fontana a big lead. Another of his outs, the {9-Clubs}, hit the river, and Fontana doubled while Medes slipped to short-stacked status again.

Medes Doubles Through Vergara

Level 22 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

Cornel Medes has been sitting very short since the start of the day and has been holding on. Just now Jorge Vergara raised to 33,000 in the cutoff and Medes picked the moment to make his move and pushed from the small blind for a total of 82,000. Vergara called, Medes showed {k-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}, and Vergara revealed {a-Diamonds}{6-Spades}.

The board ran out in Medes' favor, coming {k-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{k-Spades} to give him trips and a double-up. But he still has work to do to stay in this.

Haugo Doubles Through Hunichen

Level 22 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

The two Chris H's got in a race preflop when Chris Hunichen raised to 33,000 and Chris Haugo pushed his remaining 263,000. Hunichen made the call and flipped up {k-Hearts}{q-Clubs} to Haugo's {k-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}. The flop of {q-Diamonds}{k-Spades}{3-Hearts} gave Hunichen top two pair, but Haugo had made a set. The {j-Diamonds} turn and {9-Spades} river fell meaninglessly as Haugo made the double-up with cowboys.
