Welcome Back to Day 2 of Event #9 $1,000 No-Limit Hold'em

Yesterday, 2014 World Series of Poker Event #9: $1,000 No-Limit Hold'em attracted 1,940 players, but after 14 hours of play just 161 advanced to Day 2 and remain in contention for the $323,125 first-place prize.

Among those returning to action today are chip leader Adam Geyer (177,500); reigning World Poker Tour champ Keven Stammen (94,800); WSOP bracelet winner Mark Radoja (72,700); online star Thiago "XTheDecanoX" Nishijima (63,900); the dapper Tony Dunst (51,200); the reigning WSOP National Champion Dominik Nitsche (35,300); holder for most rings on the WSOP Circuit, Alex Masek (29,200); and Kyle Cartwright (25,500), who won a $1,000 buy-in no-limit hold'em event a few days ago for his first bracelet.

Cards will be in the air at 1 p.m. local time, which is about an hour from now. The PokerNews Live Reporting Team will be on hand as the field looks to play down to a final table, or at least close to it. While you wait for action to reconvene, check out this video featuring do-it-yourself safety and stocks by Faraz Jaka, who will return today with a stack of 62,000.

Hallee Rolls Royce

Level 12 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

After a player opened for 1,200, Royce Cohen three-bet all in for 19,700. Action folded around to Jason Hallee in the cutoff and he promptly moved all in over the top. The button and both blinds folded, as did the original raiser, and the cards were turned up.

Cohen: {a-Clubs}{k-Hearts}
Hallee: {9-Hearts}{9-Clubs}

It was a classic flip, but Cohen needed to his hand to improve to stay alive. He failed to do it on the {3-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} flop, and the {J-Spades} turn was also a swing and a miss. It was down to the river for Cohen, but salvation would not come as the {5-Spades} blanked.

Big Double for Louviere

Level 12 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

A preflop raising war resulted in Christopher Louviere getting his stack of 32,400 all in and in a dominant position against his opponent.

Louviere: {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}
Opponent: {k-Hearts}{q-Spades}

Both players shared a queen, which meant Louviere's superior kicker made him a heavy favorite. The {10-Spades}{a-Clubs}{k-Clubs} flop brought a king, but that was no sweat for Louviere as he also found an ace. Neither the {10-Clubs} turn nor {5-Diamonds} rover changed a thing, and Louviere received an early double.

Drover Drowned

Level 12 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Action folded around to the short-stacked Mark Drover in the cutoff and he moved all in for his last 9,000. The button and small blind bowed out and Kevin Poel snap-called from the big blind.

Drover: {a-Spades}{q-Spades}
Poel: {k-Hearts}{k-Spades}

The dealer laid out a {2-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{2-Spades}{j-Clubs}{k-Clubs} board and Drover was eliminated in 142nd for $2,147.
