Politano Heads to Dinner With a Fat Stack, Plus Full Chip Counts (full)

Level 22 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante
Chip Leader Bruno Politano
Chip Leader Bruno Politano

The 90-minute dinner break has commenced, Bruno Politano has continued to gobble up chips during Level 22.

Politano grabbed the chip lead with a monster set-over-set pot last level, and he’s stretched it in the two hours since. With 5.271 million in chips, he holds a wide lead over second place.

Benger picked up a big pot late in the level when he picked up {a-Spades}{a-Hearts} against the {j-Diamonds}{j-Hearts} of Bob Miller, busting Miller when he failed to find another jack.

Benger will have the opportunity to significantly chip up (or down) before the night is over, as he just got moved to one of the secondary feature tables with fellow hefty stacks Dan Smith and Tony Ruberto. Benger’s position is ideal, as he drew Seat 4, to the immediate left of Ruberto (Seat 3) and Smith (Seat 2).

The leader coming into the day, Matthew Haugen, has been unable to gain any traction, finding himself under the 2 million mark after he came into the day toting 2.8 million.

A noble cause received a nice donation, as David Einhorn was eliminated in 173 when his {a-Hearts}{j-Clubs} failed to improve against an opponent’s {a-Spades}{q-Hearts}. Einhorn collected nearly $45,000, which will go to a charity called Robin Hood.

Former standout poker coach Brian Townsend ran his jacks into aces to bow out as well.

Blake Cahail (172nd), Rep Porter (174th), John Kabbaj (179th), Roland Israelashvili (180th), Jeff Madsen (188th) were among the other notable names exiting this level.

While you wait for the return of play, enjoy this timeless video from the 2012 WSOP Main Event where Mickey Doft races to count "the stack."

Gorsuch Coolered

Level 22 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante

Action folded to John Gorsuch on the button and he raised to 45,000. Clayton Maguire pushed back with a three-bet from the big blind, and Gorsuch responded by moving all in for right around 700,000. Maguire snap-called and Gorsuch didn't like what he saw.

Gorsuch: {q-Spades}{q-Diamonds}
Maguire: {k-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}

Both players held big pocket pairs, but Maguire's was bet.

"Couldn't get to the damn dinner break," Gorsuch lamented after the board had run out {7-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{8-Spades}.

Haugen Falling

Level 22 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante
Matthew Haugen is slipping
Matthew Haugen is slipping

Jason Weber raised to 40,000 in middle position, Yorane Kerignard called out of the small blind, and Matthew Haugen defended his big blind.

The dealer fanned {9-Clubs}{5-Spades}{q-Spades}, both players in the blinds checked, and Weber continued for 65,000. Only Haugen called.

The turn was the {q-Clubs}, Haugen check-called another 125,000 from Weber, and the {k-Spades} completed the board.

For the first time Haugen opted to lead out, firing 350,000. Weber instantly called, and Haugen motioned that he was good. Weber showed {q-Diamonds}{j-Spades} for trip queens, and Haugen mucked.

Palmer Eliminates Schulz

Level 22 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante

Robert Schulz raised to 40,000 from early position and Kyung Cha called from the cutoff. Scott Palmer made it 120,000 to go from the small blind only to have Schulz come over the top with a four-bet 200,000. Cha folded his hand, Palmer moved all in, and Schulz called for his tournament life of 670,000.

Schulz: {J-Spades}{j-Diamonds}
Palmer: {A-Spades}{A-Clubs}

The board ran out {A-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{6-Hearts}, keeping Palmer's pocket aces in the lead. Palmer took down the pot and Schulz was eliminated from play.

Rebello Runs into Siffledeen's Set

Level 22 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante

On the turn the board read {J-Hearts}{4-Spades}{Q-Clubs}{3-Clubs} when we caught Quentin Siffledeen and Todd Rebello invest 260,000 chips to see a river card.

The river was the {7-Diamonds} and Siffledeen bet 200,000 and Rebello quickly called.

Siffledeen tabled {4-Clubs}{4-Hearts} for a flopped set and he raked in this pot.

Jacks for Waxman

Level 22 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante

Christopher Sly opened to 40,000 from the hijack and Matt Waxman made the call from the cutoff.

Sly checked the {4-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{10-Clubs} flop with Waxman betting out 46,000 and Sly calling before both players checked the {Q-Diamonds} on the turn.

The river landed the {9-Hearts} and Waxman bet out 115,000 with Sly instantly making the call.

Waxman tabled his {J-Hearts}{J-Spades} and Sly flashed his {10-Diamonds} before folding.

Graner Done In By Pocket Rockets

Level 22 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante

We missed the hand as it happened, but we do know that Stephen Graner was just eliminated from the 2014 WSOP Main Event at the hands of Felix Stephensen. Graner got his last 350,000 or so all in preflop holding the {6-Spades}{6-Diamonds}, but it was dominated by the {a-Diamonds}{a-Clubs} of Stephensen. The board ran out clean, and Graner wished the table luck before making his way to the payout desk.
