Boat Over Boat for Dehkharghani

Level 7 : 2,000/4,000, 0 ante

Big O

With the board reading {q-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}, Chris Klodnicki checked in the small blind and called 2,500 from big blind Ray Dehkharghani. The river brought the {3-Clubs} and Klodnicki checked. Dehkharghani bet 4,000 and Klodnicki called.

Dehkharghani showed {a-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} for queens full. Klodnicki turned over {k-Spades}{3-Spades}{j-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}, thinking he'd won with threes full. He pulled back his chips and a confused Dehkharghani wondered momentarily if he'd just been called by kings full. Once everything was sorted out, the put was rebuilt and Dehkharghani got the chips.

John Racener
John Racener

Limit Omaha

Bryce Yockey picked the game and came out firing with a raise to 4,000. A short-stacked John Racener three-bet the small blind to 6,000 and Yockey called.

Racener bet his last 1,800 in the dark as the flop landed {J-Hearts}{8-}{6-Hearts}. Yockey called, and the defending champion was at risk.

Racener: {A-}{K-}{10-}{5-}
Yockey: {K-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}

Unfortunately for Racener, he had run into the set of Yockey, and when no help came on the turn or river, he was eliminated from the tournament.

Seiver Silenced by Schuyler

Level 8 : 2,500/5,000, 0 ante

Pot-Limit 2-7 Triple Draw

From the cutoff, Schuyler Thornton raised to 3,400 and Scott Seiver three-bet the small blind to 11,100. Thornton put Seiver all in, and Seiver called off his 31,500 total.

Both players drew one on the first draw, two on the second draw, and then stood pat on the final draw.

Seiver held {10-}{8-}{5-}{4-}{2-} while Thornton had the winner with his {8-}{6-}{5-}{4-}{3-} to eliminate Seiver.

Buchanan Has Indecision

Level 8 : 2,500/5,000, 0 ante

No-Limit Hold'em

We couldn't tell how the action went down on the {10-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} flop, because Shawn Buchanan used a T5,000 chip to bet and Scott Bohlman put in 2,500. Buchanan pushed his chip forward in response, so it looked like it may have been a bet, raise and a call.

On the {k-Spades} turn, Buchanan check-called 4,000. On the {2-Clubs} river, he checked again. Bohlman bet 15,000. Buchanan went into the tank and looked like he might have been cutting out raising chips. Finally, he gave up that ruse.

"I was going to make it 40,000," he said with a smile.

Moments later, he opted to call instead, but he couldn't beat {10-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} for trips.

Face Up No Problem for Thornton

Level 8 : 2,500/5,000, 0 ante
Game Selection Card
Game Selection Card

Stud Hi-Lo Regular

Schuyler Thornton started with the {a-Diamonds} and apparently thought he won the pot without contest because he turned over his other two cards: {5-Clubs}{3-Spades}. Problem was, Another player had entered with the {7-Clubs} and Thornton didn't see it. The supervisor arrived and said it was a live hand so play proceeded. Thornton picked up four to a wheel on fifth and bet, and his opponent called, then they checked sixth.

Thornton: {5-Clubs}{3-Spades}/{a-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}/{x-}
Opponent: {x-}{x-}/{7-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{8-Spades}{j-Clubs}/{x-}

Thornton bet the river to put his opponent all in. The player called with a pair of jacks but Thornton had made a wheel with his lone down card, the {4-Hearts}.

"You know, I'm supposed to give you a penalty," the supervisor said. "But I think the disadvantage you gave yourself was enough."

"If You Can't Gamble With That, What Can You Gamble With?"

Level 8 : 2,500/5,000, 0 ante
Daniel Negreanu
Daniel Negreanu

Pot-Limit 2-7 Triple Draw

Daniel Negreanu raised under the gun to 3,000, and the action folded to Scott Bohlman in the small blind, and he bumped it up to 10,000.

Negreanu took a measured amount of time before cutting out a four-bet to 30,000.

It was now Bohlman's turn to enter the think-tank, and after several minutes, he pushed out 135,000 in pink 5,000-denomination chips.

Negreanu had just 63,000 behind, and he pushed it forward to be at-risk, and all in for 93,000.

Bohlman discarded, as did Negreanu.

"Oh we're both gambling!" laughed Negreanu.

On the second draw both players drew another card, and on the final draw, Bohlman drew one more.

"Well in that case ... I guess I'm pat. You gotta beat a ten!" Negreanu remarked.

Negreanu: {10-}{7-}{5-}{4-}{2-}
Bohlman: {5-}{4-}{3-}{2-}

Bohlman began squeezing his card and then suddenly let out a sigh to acknowledge he bricked his wheel draw. Eventually Bohlman's {Q-} would be shown and Negreanu would be ensured of the double to nearly 190,000.

"If you can't gamble with that, what can you gamble with?" added Negreanu as his all in stack was being counted.

"Such a crazy game!" remarked Wattel.

"F**k it! Let's go! Once you're in, you're in right?" asked Negreanu as he collected the pot.

Johnson Spikes River

Level 8 : 2,500/5,000, 0 ante

Pot-Limit Omaha

On a flop of {J-Clubs}{3-Spades}{J-Hearts} with around 50,000 in the middle, Marco Johnson moved all in from the small blind for 25,200.

Robert Campbell folded from under the gun, and Ben Yu snap-called in the cutoff.

Johnson: {A-Spades}{A-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}
Yu: {K-Hearts}{J-Spades}{10-Hearts}{7-Spades}

With Johnson at risk, the turn of the {9-Spades} changed little, but it would be the {A-Clubs} on the river that would ensure his survival in the tournament as he doubled to over 100,000 in chips.
