Friedman and Kessler Both Take a Small Hit from Hila Elezra

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 100 ante

Perry Friedman: {x-}{x-}/{3-Clubs}{9-Spades}{7-Clubs}{6-Spades}/{x-}
Hila Elezra: {x-}{x-}/{4-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{8-Hearts}/{x-}
Allen Kessler: {x-}{x-}/{A-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}{J-Clubs} — Folded on fifth
Opponent: {x-}{x-}/{A-Hearts}{Q-Spades}{2-Diamonds} — Folded of fifth

Allen Kessler completed and he was called by three players including Perry Friedman and Hila Elezra, who is the wife of Eli Elezra, also in the tournament.

On fourth, action checked to Elezra and she bet. All three of her opponents called. On fifth, Elezra bet again but this time only Friedman called.

On sixth street, Elezra one more time and Friedman called one more time. Friedman called one final bet on seventh street, but he was shown {A-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}{6-Hearts} for a pair and a low. It was good enough to take down the pot so Friedman sent over the chips, leaving himself with right around 15,000. Elezra took down the pot and chipped up to 15,000.

Her husband, Eli, mentioned that Hila only plays one tournament every year, and she's been chugging along so far, making through the first nine levels of the day.

Deeb and Yu Chop Up Couden

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

A raising war ensued between Ben Yu and Joey Couden with Shaun Deeb caught in the middle. Four players had seen fifth street after Deeb bet fourth and got three callers. Couden led into the field with {q-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{10-Clubs} and got called by Deeb before Yu raised with two low cards. Couden raised back, Deeb called and Yu reraised to get his 4,700 in. The others called.

Deeb: {x-}{x-}/{8-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{j-Hearts}
Yu: {x-}{x-}/{2-Spades}{9-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}
Couden: {x-}{x-}/{q-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{q-Clubs}

Couden bet after pairing his queen and Deeb called. Deeb was the one betting the end though, and Couden called. That's because Deeb made a flush with {10-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{7-Hearts}, and Yu had the low with {a-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{5-Spades}, while Couden mucked and watched his money get chopped up.

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Jeff Madsen was showing two open pair and betting into David Prociak when we arrived on sixth. Madsen fired seventh as well and received a call.

Madsen: {8-Diamonds}{a-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}/{8-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{9-Spades}{8-Hearts}
Prociak: {x-}{x-}/{4-Spades}{a-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}/{x-}

Derke and Hirvonen Get Scooped

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Nicholas Derke: {x-}{x-}/{9-Spades}{A-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}/{x-}
Mikko Hirvonen: {x-}{x-}/{Q-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}{3-Spades}{2-Diamonds}/{x-}
Opponent: {x-}{x-}/{8-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{2-Spades}/{x-}
Ron Ware: {x-}{x-}/{7-Clubs}{Q-Clubs} (folded on fourth street)

Mikko Hirvonen completed and he was called by a player who refused to be named, Ron Ware and Nicholas Derke.

On fourth street, Derke led out after taking the betting lead. Hirvonen called as did the other player, but Ware folded. On fifth, Derke checked, only to meet a bet from Hirvonen. The other player called as did Derke. Hirvonen continued betting on sixth and both players called.

On seventh, all three players checked. Hirvonen showed {J-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} and Derke mucked his hand. The other player in the pot showed {2-Hearts}{7-Spades} for a full house though, and that allowed him to scoop up the pot.

When asked for his name, the player said he was supposed to be at work and didn't wish to share it.

Gundrum Assumes the Chip Lead with Six Hands to Go

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Trent Gundrum: {x-}{x-}/{5-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}/{x-}
Joao Vieira: {x-}{x-}/{K-Diamonds}{A-Spades}{4-Spades}{10-Clubs}/{x-}
Opponent: {x-}{x-}/{8-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}{9-Clubs}/{x-}

Picking up the action fifth street, action had checked over to Trent Gundrum who put out a bet. He was called by Joao Vieira and one other player. Gundrum bet again on sixth and this time was only called by Vieira.

On seventh, Gundrum bet once more and Vieira thought for a bit before calling. Gundrum showed his {A-Clubs}{6-Spades}{5-Hearts} for a straight and a low and he would collect the entire pot. That allowed him to take down another pot and move to right around 75,000 chips which makes him one of the largest stacks in the room, if not the largest.
