Martin Gets "Interesting Runout"

Level 25 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante

Five players saw fourth street for the minimum but a Tim Finne bet with {4-Spades}{3-Spades} thinned the field to just he and Jesse Martin, who paired tens on fifth and then got trips on sixth after they checked.

Finne: {x-}{x-}/{4-Spades}{3-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{q-Spades}
Martin: {x-}{x-}/{10-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{10-Diamonds}

Finne smiled and folded to a bet.

"Interesting runout," he said.

Cha Scoops and Survives

Level 24 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

PJ Cha put his remaining chips in on the first round with {a-Clubs} and Richard Monroe raised on his left with {7-Hearts}. James Nelson came along and called bets on the next two streets before they checked sixth.

Cha: {x-}{x-}/{a-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{a-Spades}/{x-}
Monroe: {x-}{x-}/{7-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{9-Hearts}/{x-}
Nelson: {x-}{x-}/{5-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}/{x-}

They checked again on the end and Cha showed {j-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{6-Spades} for just his open aces. They were good though, as Monroe had {k-Clubs}{k-Spades}{j-Hearts} for kings and Nelson mucked.

James Sievers
James Sievers

James Sievers called Jesse Martin's bet on sixth street and had just 6,000 left. Martin bet the end and Sievers said he had to call no matter what.

Martin: {8-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{5-Spades}/{7-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{8-Hearts}
Sievers: {2-}{3-}/{a-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{6-Hearts}

Sievers peeled over a {q-} and slammed it down, lamenting his poor luck and saying Martin outdrew him three times.

Remaining players are drawing seats for the final table.

Bentley Roberts completed in late position with the {j-Clubs} and Tom McCormick defended his bring-in with the {3-Diamonds}. Roberts put the last 20,000 in on fourth.

Roberts: {a-Spades}{3-Hearts}/{j-Clubs}{2-Clubs}
McCormick: {8-Hearts}{8-Clubs}/{3-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}

Roberts ran out {3-Spades}{9-Clubs} for a pair of threes but he was way behind when McCormick made two pair with {7-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}.

"Way behind," Roberts sighed. "Jack one time."

He peeled the {9-Clubs} though and headed for payouts.

Eli Elezra called on fifth street and raised all in on sixth. Peter Brownstein called.

"I have a low," Bronstein said.

"I got queens," Elezra replied.

Then they showed their respective hands:

Eli Elezra: {A-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts} / {4-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{Q-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}
Peter Brownstein: {2-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} / {4-Clubs}{7-Spades}{8-Spades}{K-Spades}

"I need a king," Brownstein observed. He peeled his last card and it was indeed the {K-Hearts}.

Elezra bricked his river card and left the tournament in 12th place.

Finne Wounds Sotiropoulos in Two Hands

Level 24 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

Tim Finne is climbing up the leaderboard after scooping George Sotiropoulos in two hands within just a few minutes.

The first saw Finne fire into a mediocre pot on seventh street and Sotiropoulos called.

Tim Finne: {A-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} / {A-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}{6-Spades}{9-Hearts}
Georgios Sotiropoulos: {X-}{X-}{X-} / {7-Spades}{9-Spades}{K-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}

Finne revealed two pair and claimed the pot.

The next hand was almost the same. Finne fired on sixth street and then again on the river and Sotiropoulos called to the showdown.

Tim Finne: {A-Spades}{8-Spades}{8-Diamonds} / {2-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{8-Hearts}
Georgios Sotiropoulos: {X-}{X-}{X-} / {6-Spades}{9-Hearts}{K-Spades}{Q-Spades}

Sotiropoulos mucked again.
