Hellmuth Wins Against McDermott

Level 4 : 100/200, 25 ante

Rellie Sigua limped in from the cutoff and so did Phil Hellmuth on the button. Timothy McDermott raised to 1,100 from the small blind. Sigua folded and Hellmuth called.

The flop came {10-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{3-Hearts}, and McDermott check-called the 700 bet of Hellmuth. The turn brought them the {2-Diamonds}, and this time McDermott check-called a 1,400 bet from Hellmuth.

The river completed the board with the {10-Hearts}. McDermott checked again. Hellmuth bet 4,800 and McDermott folded.

Ho Hits the Rail

Level 4 : 100/200, 25 ante

On Table 36, Boris Kolev raised to 700 from the small blind and Maria Ho thought for several moments before pushing her remaining 5,400 all in. Kolev made the call and players tabled their hands.

Boris Kolev: {a-Hearts}{q-Clubs}
Maria Ho: {A-Spades}{9-Clubs}

The flop came {7-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{3-Spades} and Ho still needed help to survive. The {8-Diamonds} on the turn gave Ho an open-ended straight draw, but the {3-Hearts} on the river did not provide it. Kolev scooped the pot as Ho departs.

What You Don't Know About the 2018 World Series of Poker

What's new and noteworthy at the 2018 World Series of Poker? You probably know by now that the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino hosts the WSOP. What you might not know, is that for the first time in World Series of Poker history, the Big Blind Ante and Shot Clock will be incorporated into some events.

Racener Out of the Shootout

Level 5 : 150/300, 50 ante
John Racener
John Racener

There was about 3,300 in the middle and the flop read {K-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{4-Hearts} when John Racener checked his big blind, and Brandon Meyers did the same from the hijack. Ben Dobson, however, decided to bet. Racener responded with a shove for 4,100 which both Meyers and Dobson called.

The turn brought the latter two the {A-Hearts} on which they both checked through to the {A-Diamonds} on the river. Meyers then check-folded to the 3,500 bet of Dobson. Dobson tabled {A-Spades}{Q-Hearts} for trip aces, and Racener got up and showed {K-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} for the flopped two pair before exiting.

Smiley Hanging Around

Level 5 : 150/300, 50 ante

Zachary Smiley shoved around 5,000 from the small blind and Scott Stewart quickly called. Players tabled their hands and Smiley would be at risk of elimination.

Zachary Smiley: {a-Spades}{k-Clubs}
Scott Stewart: {q-Spades}{k-Spades}

The board ran out {4-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{5-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{a-Hearts} and Smiley's hand was good for the double up. This table currently has three remaining and Brian Yoon is looking like a strong favorite to lock up the first Day 2 entry of the day.

Nguyen Cracks Aces

Level 5 : 150/300, 50 ante

On Table #5, the board read {q-Clubs}{8-Spades}{10-Hearts}{k-Clubs} when Steve Gross moved all in for around 8,000 and Qui Nguyen snap-called. Gross flipped over {a-Diamonds}{a-Spades} for an overpair and Nguyen boarded {9-Clubs}{j-Clubs} for a flopped straight. The {3-Clubs} on the river did not improve Gross's hand as he was eliminated and Nguyen took down the pot.
