Konnikova Continues to Build

Maria Konnikova has had a great year so far, already securing a win in the National, at the PCA earlier in 2018.

Today, she is no doubt hoping to build on her success with a deep run in this event and she has made a good start so far, building up to 20,000.

The most recent chips were acquired in a hand that she defended from the blinds versus a late position open.

She check-called the 800 flop continuation.

There was no action on the turn and on the river, she opted to lead, making it 1,700 to get to showdown. Her opponent didn't like the price and passed.

Following his late registration into the tournament, Joe Elpayaa has remained roughly around starting stack. He recently dropped below the 10,000 but won the following pot, which took him up to 10,600.

Kerstetter and Abdellatif Win

The board read , Jamie Kerstetter had just checked her big blind and the player in the cutoff made it 1,300. Kerstetter raised to 3,300 and her opponent folded after thinking about it for a while. Kerstetter showed for the turned quad fours.

A few hands later on the same table, the board read and Jonathan Abdellatif check-raised to 3,300 when his opponent had bet 1,000. His opponent also gave up. Abdellatif didn't show his hole cards though.
