Gerhart Sent to the Rail

Level 8 : 100/200, 0 ante

PLO-8

Kevin Gerhart opened from under the gun and was called by the big blind. The flop fell {a-Spades}{k-Diamonds}{7-Spades} and the big blind checked to Gerhart who bet the pot of 1,350. His opponent called and the {9-Spades} rolled off on the turn.

The big blind announced a bet of 4,000 and Gerhart quickly stuck in his remaining 2,500 chips. Gerhart tabled {a-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{6-Spades}{5-Clubs} for two pair and a low draw while his opponent held {8-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{2-Spades} for a flush and a better low draw. The river brought the {2-Diamonds} and Gerhart was unable to improve, sending the rest of his chips to his opponent.

Cunningham Makes Someone Fold

Level 8 : 100/200, 0 ante

Omaha-8

Allen Cunningham sat in the big blind when the player in the small blind raised. Cunningham called the raise.

The flop was {8-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} and the player in the small continued with a bet. Cunningham called again and the turn was the {5-Diamonds}

This time they checked to Cunningham and he took over the betting lead. The player in the small blind called and the {Q-Clubs} river was dealt. Cunningham fired another time and his opponent counted out the call but didn't immediately put their chips in. They peeked at their cards once more and eventually opted for the fold.

Bach on Cruise Control

Level 7 : 100/200, 0 ante

Big-O

The action was limped around to the big blind who raised the pot to 1,200. He was called by the hijack, the cutoff, and David Bach closed the action in the small blind.

The flop came {10-Hearts}{9-Spades}{5-Spades} and Bach announced a pot-sized bet of 5,000. The big blind quickly folded and the other two players quickly followed suit into the muck. Bach raked in another pot to climb over 50,000 chips and is a close contender for the largest stack in the room.

Felipe Ramos

While the board read {6-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{6-Clubs}, there was about 9,000 in front of Felipe Ramos and 6,000 in front of one of his opponents who was all in. A third player was still thinking about his decision. They eventually folded and Ramos was in good shape.

Felipe Ramos: {A-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}{J-Spades}{6-Hearts}

Hellmuth Enters and Wins

Level 7 : 100/200, 0 ante
Phil Hellmuth from a previous event
Phil Hellmuth from a previous event

Omaha-8

Phil Hellmuth has just taken his seat in the tournament for his first entry of the day. In the first pot that he was seen playing, Hellmuth raised it up from early position and was called by Matt Woodward in the big blind. The flop fell {a-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} and Woodward checked to Hellmuth who continued with a bet. Woodward check-raised and Hellmuth just called.

The {9-Hearts} landed on the turn and Woodward slid in another bet. It was Hellmuth's turn to raise and Woodward made the call. The river brought the {4-Clubs} and Woodward checked. Hellmuth quickly threw in another bet and Woodward tossed his cards to the muck.

Hellmuth and Woodward should be expected to clash a few more times while they are seated at the same table, and Mr. Positivity needs to be at the top of his game if he is going to battle with one of the best in the business.

Visser Chipping Up Slowly

Level 7 : 100/200, 0 ante

PLO-8

Frank Visser just had a couple very nice levels before the break. He was up to 18,500 and just chopped up a pot with a third player in the pot.

While the board was {A-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{7-Hearts}, Visser checked to his opponent who bet out 500. Another player called and Visser called as well. Visser checked again on the {J-Hearts} turn, only to see his opponent put in another purple 500 chip. Visser and the other player both called again to see the board complete with the {A-Clubs} river.

This time it checked to the third player in the pot who bet 2,500. Visser was the only caller this time and his opponent announced "just quads" as he showed {A-Spades}{A-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{6-Spades}, while Visser opened up {9-Spades}{5-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} for the nut low.
