Rogers Bluffs Off to Hughes

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 1,500 ante

NL 2-7 Single Draw

Ryan Hughes raised to 15,000 first to act and Aaron Rogers called in the small blind and took a card. Hughes patted. Rogers led out for 50,000 and Hughes thought only briefly before calling.

"Pair of eights," Rogers said.

Hughes showed {10-}{9-}{7-}{5-}{4-} for an easy win with ten-nine.

"Now We're Playing Hold'em, Boys"

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 1,500 ante

No-Limit Hold'em

Jeff Lisandro opened to 9,000 from hijack and Daniel Weinman three-bet to 28,000 on the button. Lisandro, however, slid in front of him a pile of pink chips, making it 109,000 and practically pushing Weinman against the wall as Weinman started the hand with just over 140,000. Weinman didn't waste a second and folded.

"Now we're playing Hold'em, boys. The Cadillac of poker," Lisandro said, smiling.

PL 2-7 Triple Draw

Scott Bohlman bet 20,000 after the first draw on the button and Warwick Mirzikinian made it 88,400 in the big blind. Bohlman shoved all in for about 170,000 effective and Mirzikinian called. Both players patted. Mirzikinian patted again and Bohlman winced. He went deep into the tank. After several minutes of thought, he patted back.

Mirzikinian opened {9-}{8-}{5-}{3-}{2-} but it was no good as Bohlman had {8-}{7-}{5-}{4-}{2-}.

Hughes showed {9-}{8-}{5-}{4-}, hoping to catch a ten, seven, six, three or a deuce. He peeled a try, making {9-}{8-}{5-}{4-}{3-} and Henson was eliminated in ninth place, good for $8,915.

PL 2-7 Triple Draw

Dario Sammartino and Scott Bohlman built a pot of over 150,000 after the second draw and Sammartino checked. Bohlman bet 125,000 and Sammartino moved all in for about 140,000 more.

"Did he say all in?" Bohlman asked.

After thinking for a moment, he called. Both patted and Bohlman opened a wheel. Sammartino sighed and flicked {7-}{6-}{5-}{3-}{2-} into the middle. Someone asked Bohlman why he didn't snap-call.

"Didn't want him to break," he answered.

Sammartino Folds the River

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 1,500 ante

Pot-Limit Omaha

Scott Bohlman defended his big blind against 10,000-raise from Dario Sammartino, who was on the button.

Bohlman check-called 12,000 when the {K-Clubs}{10-Spades}{6-Diamonds} appeared in the middle and then took the betting lead on the {7-Clubs} turn. Sammartino called.

The dealer turned up the {5-Spades} river and Bohlman fired 80,000. Sammartino was studying Bohlman's face for a bit and then laid his hand down.

Barry Greenstein Eliminated in 11th Place ($6,874)

Barry Greenstein

Pot-Limit Omaha

Barry Greenstein and Dario Sammartino were looking at a board of {10-Hearts}{a-Hearts}{j-Spades}{q-Spades} on the turn and Greenstein potted for about 25,000 on the button. Sammartino repotted and Greenstein stuck his stack of about 150,000 in.

Both had the nuts with redraws. Greenstein's {a-Spades}{k-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{2-Hearts} was looking for a spade, while Sammartino's {k-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{6-Spades} was looking for a heart or a paired board. The river brought the {10-Spades}, so they both improved but Sammartino's boat was the winner.

Jeremy Harkin

PL 2-7 Triple Draw

Jeremy Harkin limped the button and Ryan Hughes potted out of the big blind for 25,500. Harkin called and drew two while Hughes took one.

Hughes led out 40,000 after the first draw and Harkin moved all in. Hughes instantly called.

Hughes stood pat and Harkin drew one before both patted the last draw.

"Eight-six," Hughes said, showing {8-}{6-}{5-}{4-}{3-}.

Harkin looked at Hughes' hand and shouted, "Yes!" as he made a better eighty-six with {8-}{6-}{5-}{3-}{2-}.

Harkin's double was counted at 111,600 and he climbed above the tournament average.
