Three Raises On the Flop as Kyte Wins On the River

Level 18 : 5,000/10,000, 0 ante

Jin Kim raised from middle position, and Jon Kyte called on the button. On the {10-Clubs}{3-Spades}{7-Clubs} flop, Kim bet, Kyte raised and Kim three-bet. Kyte decided to four-bet, and Kim called.

The brought the {4-Diamonds}, and Kim check-called Kyte's bet before again check-calling on the {j-Clubs} river.

"I have the nuts," said Kyte, as he showed {a-Clubs}{5-Clubs}.

Kim revealed pocket queens, and she relinquished the post.

Heartberg Sends Needleman to the Rail

Level 18 : 5,000/10,000, 0 ante
Daniel Needleman
Daniel Needleman

The flop read {4-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{7-Hearts} when Daniel Needleman had all his chip in the middle, except one 500 chip. Jeremy Heartberg was his opponent and bet the {j-Spades} turn to put Needleman all-in to which he obliged.

Jeremy Heartberg: {j-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}
Daniel Needleman: {a-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}

River: {2-Spades}

Heartberg was ahead on the flop with the jacks overpair and all but consolidated Needleman's fate when he hit a set on the turn. The river could not save Needleman, and he exited the tournament for a $3,422 payday.

Yo-Yo for Gutierrez

Level 18 : 5,000/10,000, 0 ante

On the first hand, the board was showing {7-Hearts}{6-Spades}{a-Clubs}{8-Spades} when Carlos Figueroafernandez made the first bet and was raised by Terricita Gutierrez. Figueroafernandez three-bet for the rest of his stack, 35,500 total, and Gutierrez made the call.

With {a-Spades}{j-Clubs} in her hand, Gutierrez wasn't happy to see Figueroafernandez's {8-Clubs}{8-Hearts} for a set of eights. The river {4-Diamonds} didn't change anything and Gutierrez fell to 24,000 chips after that hand.

The hand right after, she bet from under the gun and faced a Michael Jex three-bet. Gutierrez replied with a four-bet, and an all-in after Jex's five-bet and the players tabled their cards.

Jex was holding the best hand with {a-Diamonds}{k-Spades}, against {a-Spades}{7-Diamonds} for Gutierrez, but a board {6-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} gave a pair of sevens to Gutierrez and the double up.

Gromenkova Chips Down

Level 18 : 5,000/10,000, 0 ante

Svetlana Gromenkova bet from the cutoff and only Matt Grapenthien in the small blind made the call. The flop fell {6-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} and Grapenthien check-called Gromenkova's continuation bet. The turn was the {7-Diamonds} and the same action happened, this time for 10,000.

Both players checked on the river {j-Spades} and Gromenkova mucked her hand after Grapenthien turned over {j-Clubs}{10-Clubs}.
