Tosoc Takes From Calara

Level 13 : 2,500/5,000, 0 ante

Three players invested 21,500 preflop to go to a flop of {A-Clubs}{5-Spades}{3-Clubs} and Jake Schindler in the big blind ended up checking to Mandy Calara in early position, who bet 35,000. Ryan Tosoc in the cutoff called and Schindler sent his cards into the muck.

Both remaining active players checked the {10-Clubs} on the turn and Calara bet the {6-Diamonds} river for 65,000. Tosoc just called and was shown the {A-Hearts}{A-Spades}{Q-Spades}{9-Clubs} for top set by Calara, which he had beat with {8-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} for a flush.

Harder More Than Doubles; Ward Busts

Level 13 : 2,500/5,000, 0 ante
Christian Harder
Christian Harder

Hand #1

On the three-way flop of {K-Clubs}{J-Hearts}{9-Clubs}, Philip Ward checked and Ralph Perry bet 18,000. Christian Harder moved all in for 50,500 and Ward jammed over the top to force out Perry.

Christian Harder: {K-Spades}{J-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{4-Spades}
Philip Ward: {Q-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{8-Clubs}

The {J-Spades} turn instantly improved Harder to a full house and that rendered the {8-Hearts} river to a formality.

Hand #2

One hand later, Veselin Karakitukov on the button made it 13,000 to go, Ward in the small blind raised the pot and Karakitukov reraised. Ward called all in for some 110,000 and the cards were turned over.

Philip Ward: {10-Spades}{9-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{6-Spades}
Veselin Karakitukov: {A-Hearts}{K-Spades}{7-Hearts}{2-Spades}

The {A-Diamonds}{A-Clubs}{2-Clubs} flop improved Karakitukov to a full house and Ward was suddenly in need of running sixes for quads to avoid elimination. Instead, the {K-Clubs} turn left the Brit drawing dead and the {Q-Diamonds} on the river was a formality.
Veselin Karakitukov: {A-Hearts}{K-Spades}{7-Hearts}{2-Spades}

Ochana Doubles Through Simao

Level 13 : 2,500/5,000, 0 ante

Joao Simao raised to 13,000 and Eddie Ochana three-bet to 41,500 from one seat over, Simao called. On the {J-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{4-Spades} flop, Simao checked and Ochana bet the pot before calling Simao's raise for his last 127,000.

Eddie Ochana: {A-Clubs}{A-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}{9-Spades}
Joao Simao: {8-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}

Simao had flopped trip fours and the flush draw, he only had to fear the remaining two aces in the deck. Right away, the {A-Spades} fell on the turn and the {K-Hearts} river was a formality.

Varnell Busts Negreanu in Massive Clash Before the Break

Level 13 : 2,500/5,000, 0 ante
Daniel Negreanu
Daniel Negreanu

Daniel Negreanu is no longer in the tournament after having busted in the very last hand before the break and it was Craig Varnell that sent the poker superstar to the rail in a massive clash. Negreanu confirmed on Twitter to what happened, and Varnell also explained what had happened.

According to Varnell, he raised on the button and was called by Negreanu in the small blind, as well as Tom Marchese in the big blind. A {9-}{4-}{3-} rainbow flop was checked to Varnell and he bet 36,000. Negreanu check-raised to 100,000 and Marchese folded, Varnell called. After the {10-Hearts} rainbow turn, Negreanu bet the pot and Varnell moved all in with the slightly superior stack to pick up a call by Negreanu.

Varnell showed {A-}{Q-}{9-}{4-} for nines and fours, Negreanu was way ahead with the {A-}{K-}{4-}{4-}. The river was a {9-} and Negreanu was eliminated in the biggest pot of the tournament thus far.

"I put him on a pair and a wrap," Varnell said when the action of the new level had started again.
