River Freezes Obst

Level 6 : 300/600, 0 ante

James Obst bet 12,500 into about 17,000 from the button on a board of {9-Hearts}{8-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{a-Diamonds}. His opponent in early position put in calling chips and they saw a {2-Diamonds} river. Both players checked and the early player opened {j-}{j-}{9-}{9-} for a set. Obst had it beat with {j-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{6-Spades} for a straight.

Obst Gets a Huge Fold from Aalvik

Level 6 : 300/600, 0 ante

With {5-Clubs}{7-Spades}{10-Hearts} having flopped, James Obst had a bet of 4,150 in front of him in middle position, with Davis Aalvik having made it 12,000 on his left. The big blind shoved all in for 21,500 and Obst repotted to about 89,000. Aalvik tanked for about four minutes and folded {7-}{7-}.

Obst had {a-Hearts}{j-Spades}{10-Spades}{9-Hearts} though, and he was against {q-Hearts}{5-Spades}{5-Hearts}{3-Clubs}. The turn brought an {8-Diamonds} to give Obst a straight but his shorter-stacked opponent survived with the {8-Hearts} river.

Matthew Schreiber just busted Brock Parker in a pot we didn't catch and appears to be among the leaders.

Noah Schwartz Sends 888poker Ambassador Vivian Saliba to the Rail

Level 7 : 400/800, 0 ante
Vivian Saliba in an earlier tournament.
Vivian Saliba in an earlier tournament.

Noah Schwartz limped under the gun and then called when Vivian Saliba raised to 3,600 from the cutoff. When the flop came down {2-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{9-Spades}, Schwartz led out for 2,000 and Saliba thought long and hard before deciding to raise all in for just 3,300. Schwartz called.

Schwartz: {6-Hearts}{4-Spades}{k-Hearts}{q-Spades}
Saliba: {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}{5-Spades}

Neither player had much and Saliba was technically ahead. However, the {6-Diamonds} turn paired Schwartz and the {K-Spades} river made it two pair. Saliba wished the table luck and took her leave from the tournament.
