Big Double for McCormick

Level 15 : 2,500/5,000, 0 ante

WIth the turn reading {A-Hearts}{7-Spades}{8-Hearts}{10-Clubs}, Martin Kozlov checked in a middle position and Tom McCormick fired 52,500, presumably a pot-sized bet. McCormick had 71,500 behind and Kozlov stacked chips so that he could put McCormick all in. After about a minute, he put them in and McCormick called right away.

Kozlov: {A-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}{J-Spades}{7-Hearts}
McCormick: {A-Spades}{9-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{6-Clubs}

McCromick turned a straight but Kozlov could still win, should he hit an ace, seven or a nine. The river was the {4-Diamonds} and McCormick dodged the lethal bullets to score a big double.

"I'm not used to so many chips," he smiled when he started sorting his belongings into proper stacks.

Hernandez Doubles Through Nevanlinna

Level 15 : 2,500/5,000, 0 ante

Peter Hernandez was all in from the button when we arrived, for 45,500. Small blind Randy Ohel had 17,500 in front of him and big blind Jussi Nevanlinna had put in 31,500. Ohel let it go to make it heads up and all in when Nevanlinna made the trivial call.

Nevanlinna: {k-Spades}{k-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{2-Spades}
Hernandez: {a-Spades}{j-Hearts}{9-Spades}{6-Clubs}

Hernandez paired his ace to double as it ran out {q-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{q-Spades}.

Gryko Busts Valerstein to Increase His Monster Stack

Level 15 : 2,500/5,000, 0 ante
Richard Gryko, pictured in a different event.
Richard Gryko, pictured in a different event.

Richard Gryko opened to 12,500 from the second position and Roman Valerstein made it 45,000 out of the small blind. Gryko called to see the flop.

It fell {2-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{Q-Hearts} and they ended up all in for Valerstein's remaining 41,500.

Valerstein: {A-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}{10-Spades}
Gryko: {A-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{7-Clubs}

Gryko had only a pair of sevens but he was still ahead of Valerstein's Broadway hand. The {6-Clubs} turn took tens away from Valerstein's outs and the {7-Diamonds} river sealed his fate.

Gryko added another almost a hunge to his huge piles and now sits on 680,000.

"You Peeled the Flop With That?"

Level 15 : 2,500/5,000, 0 ante

Yan Shing Tsang bet 35,000 from the big blind against neighbor Matthew Schreiber on {4-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{q-Diamonds}. Schreiber called and the river brought a {10-Clubs}. Tsang bet 45,000 and Schreiber called.

Tsang opened {q-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{8-Hearts} for a straight on the river.

"You peeled the flop with that?" Schreiber muttered as he paid off the bet. He continued to look baffled afterwards as he shrugged and shook his head.

Noah Schwartz bet 14,000 from the cutoff and Nicholas Aranda called on {4-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}{a-Hearts}. Ardit Kurshumi was in middle position and put in a check-raise to 70,000. Schwartz tanked awhile then jammed for about 60,000. Aranda folded.

Kurshumi was drawing but didn't get there as it ran out {4-Spades}, {8-Diamonds}.
