Phan Forces a Fold

Level 12 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

On a raised pot and a blind-versus-blind situation, the flop was showing {a-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{k-Diamonds} when James Akenhead bet 5,500. Ryan Phan made the call and both players checked on the {8-Hearts} turn.

The river fell a {7-Diamonds} and Akenhead bet for 12,500. After some thinking, Phan chose to raise it to 31,000, putting Akenhead into a big decision. The latter ended up folding his hand and now has a stack worth 83,000.

Romain Lewis from a previous event

"No, no, no! Don't fold!" shouted Scotty Nguyen through the Amazon room as Romain Lewis folded his hand. With about 9,000 in the pot already and a {5-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} flop, Nguyen had put out an overbet of 14,200.

Lewis had to make a decision and was taking his time to think everything through. He eventually decided on folding and showed Nguyen his {A-Hearts}{7-Hearts} and Nguyen started shouting "Don't fold! Don't fold!"

Nguyen opened up {4-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} for a flopped straight and starting laughing as the dealer pushed the pot towards him.
