Galfond Chops Twice to Survive

Level 26 : 30,000/60,000, 0 ante
Phil Galfond
Phil Galfond

Phil Galfond potted from middle position and got action from Ali Abduljabbar and small blind Michael McKenna. The flop came {q-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} and Galfond piled for 215,000. Abduljabbar called and McKenna mucked {k-}{k-}.

Phil Galfond: {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds}{j-Spades}{5-Hearts}
Ali Abduljabbar: {a-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{2-Spades}

The {3-Clubs} gave Abduljabbar two pair and the nut low but the {q-Spades} river made aces up for Galfond.

A few hands later, Marco Johnson raised to 120,000 early and was called by McKenna and Galfond, who was in the big blind. Galfond led for pot on {j-Spades}{6-Clubs}{9-Spades} and only McKenna continued. Galfond put the rest in on the {8-Clubs} turn.

"I have it," McKenna announced, snap-calling and showing {q-Spades}{10-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} for the nuts.

Galfond had {k-Spades}{8-Spades}{3-Hearts}{4-Clubs} but he got the {a-Clubs} on the river to make a low and chop.
