Petrangelo Escapes the Bear Trap

Level 1 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante

Rick Salomon opened to 25,000 from the hijack and Talal Shakerchi called in the cutoff. Nick Petrangelo three-bet to 150,000 on the button and Christoph Vogelsang four-bet to 475,000 from the small blind. The action folded back to Petrangelo who called to see a flop of {a-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}{9-Clubs}.

Vogelsang checked to Petrangelo who tossed in a bet of 275,000. Vogelsang just called and the {7-Diamonds} landed on the turn. Both players checked and the {8-Hearts} completed the board. Vogelsang used up a time extension before checking again. Petrangelo quickly checked back and Vogelsang turned over {a-Spades}{a-Hearts}.

Petrangelo put his hands in the air and started clapping, happy about his check back. "That was the ol' bear trap right there," he said.
