Backdoor Wheel Saves Deeb

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante
Shaun Deeb
Shaun Deeb

In a preflop all-in situation, defending 2018 WSOP Player of the Year Shaun Deeb was holding the {a-Spades}{8-Spades} up against the {7-}{7-} of Kenny Hallaert.

Deeb's tournament life was at risk with his remaining 23,500 in the middle.

The {4-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{3-Spades} flop was bad news for Deeb as it gave Hallaert top set. Deeb jokingly turned his cards face down acknowledging his very slim hopes of survival.

But the turn provided a glimmer when it came the {2-Diamonds} and the {5-Clubs} on the river completed the wheel to keep Deeb's hopes rolling along in the 5k event.

Schiff's Top Pair is Good

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

Emile Schiff was contesting a hand with Arsenii Karmatckii. On a board that read {8-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{5-Clubs} Schiff bet 20,000. Karmatchkii thought it over for a while before making the call.

The river was the {5-Diamonds}. Schiff fired a large bet of 50,000 which sent Karmatckii into the tank. After several moments of deliberation, he made the call.

Schiff showed the {k-Diamonds}{j-Spades} for top pair, which was good enough as Karmatckii mucked his cards and sent a decent portion of his stack across the table.
