Bryce Yockey
Bryce Yockey

With the action picked up after the draws, Bryce Yockey fired 5,000, earning a call from his opponent. Yockey tabled the best hand with {9-}{7-}{5-}{4-}{2-}. His start to the tournament has been smooth as he's already amassed 24,000 or so.

Bjorin's Call Is Good

Level 5 : 100/200, 300 ante

Following the draw, Chris Bjorin led out 1,500 from the big blind only to see his opponent raise to 4,600 from the button. Bjorin reached to his stack and quickly matched the bid.

"Two pair," Bjorin heard from his opponent, and he rolled over {8-}{7-}{5-}{3-}{2-} to claim the pot. His opponent flashed {8-}{8-} while Bjorin raked in the pot.

Defending Champion Makes His Return

Level 5 : 100/200, 300 ante
Daniel Ospina (as seen in a previous event)
Daniel Ospina (as seen in a previous event)

Daniel Ospina topped the $1,500 NL 2-7 Lowball Draw last year and he's already joined the field to kick off his title-defending campaign. Ospina started well as he just delivered a knockout.

His hand was already turned up when the action was picked up, and his {10-}{9-}{7-}{3-}{2-} held against {8-}{6-}{4-}{3-} as Ospina's opponent peeled a {j-}. Ospina is now maneuvering around 18,000.

Schemion Exits

Level 5 : 100/200, 300 ante

Ole Schemion put his short stack in play and he drew two cards while his opponent took one. Schemion turned up {q-}{j-}{9-}{6-}{3-} but that was not enough to prevail against {q-}{10-}{6-}{3-}{2-}. With one re-entry allowed, the tournament has already seen some of the players use their second attempt. Schemion still has around four hours to consider a potential return.

More Chip Counts

Level 5 : 100/200, 300 ante

Elias Loses His Short Stack

Level 5 : 100/200, 300 ante

Darren Elias moved all in for 3,275 from under the gun and the player on the button put him to the test. Elias paused for a while before deciding to discard two while his opponent needed only one.

Elias: {7-}{6-}{3-}
Opponent: {8-}{5-}{4-}{2-}

Elias quickly turned up his two new cards, finishing with {k-}{10-}{7-}{6-}{3-} which was no match for the {9-}{8-}{5-}{4-}{2-} on the other side of the table.

Rocco Picks Hall Off

Level 4 : 75/150, 225 ante

In a five-way pot, Ray Henson was in the big blind, commenting on the draw: "two-three-one-one-two," he said, adding: "playing real good on Table 455."

Henson was the player who took three, and the player behind him was Michael Rocco who fired 1,000. Galen had drawn two cards and raised it up to 3,500. The action returned to Rocco who took his time before he called.

"Good call," Hall immediately said, showing {7-}{5-}{4-}{4-}{2-} for a busted hand. Rocco claimed the pot with {10-}{9-}{7-}{6-}{5-} to rise to 16,800 just before the second break.
