Bjorin Draws Better

Level 8 : 250/500, 750 ante

Chris Bjorin called off an all-in raise of about 11,500, and both players drew one card. While Bjorin's opponent finished with a pair of threes, exposing {7-}{5-}{4-}{3-}{3-}, Bjorin peeled an ace which was enough to seal the knockout with {a-}{7-}{6-}{4-}{2-}.

Wheel the Only Way to Stop Gathy

Level 8 : 250/500, 750 ante
Michael Gathy (as seen in a previous event)
Michael Gathy (as seen in a previous event)

Michael Gathy has been crushing the 2-7 single draw so far. He just lost nearly 15,000 in chips but his stack still looks more than healthy, with Gathy navigating almost 100,000.

His loss, however, came when he three-bet in position and then called off for 14,275 against a player in the hijack. Gathy took one while his opponent drew two, and Gathy opened {8-}{6-}{3-}{2-}. The other player turned up his complete hand, and he found out that he'd drawn the best he could as he opened {7-}{5-}{4-}{3-}{2-}. Gathy showed a {3-} for formalities, knowing there was no card saving him from the loss.

Roland Israelashvili and Jeff Lisandro, both sitting to Gathy's left, laughed about the hand: "Number One is the only way how to beat this guy," Lisandro said and Israelashvili agreed.

Riess Peels a Double

Level 8 : 250/500, 750 ante

Under the gun, Ryan Riess shoved for 7,350 and the action folded to Jameson Painter who quickly called and announced he was pat. Riess discarded one and the cards were turned up.

Painter: {10-}{7-}{4-}{3-}{2-}
Riess: {7-}{6-}{5-}{2-}

Riess peeled a {4-} to bink a double, leaving Painter with last 4,000.

Katz Doubles Through Zolotow

Level 7 : 200/400, 600 ante

With the draw already done, Cary Katz led out 5,900 into about 4,000. He was in the big blind, facing off against a player in the hijack, who folded, and Steve Zolotow, who raised all in from the button. Katz instantly called.

Zolotow: {8-}{7-}{6-}{3-}{2-}
Katz: {8-}{6-}{5-}{4-}{2-}

Katz topped Zolotow's hand with eighty-six, and he notched a juicy double up while Zolotow dropped to 12,000.

Pupillo Falls to Negreanu

Level 7 : 200/400, 600 ante
Daniel Negreanu
Daniel Negreanu

Nick Pupillo was all in for his last 600 from early position and cutoff Daniel Negreanu isolated to 2,000. The big blind, however, came along and he drew two cards. Pupillo patted and Negreanu took one.

The betting round for the side pot saw Negreanu fire 3,500, earning a fold. Negreanu opened {8-}{7-}{4-}{3-}{2-} and Pupillo mucked his hand, wishing good luck to the table on his way from the Amazon Purple section.

Negreanu is currently among the tournament chip leaders.

Lisandro Doubles Up

Level 7 : 200/400, 600 ante

Michael Gathy was on the button, three-betting to 3,000 against a 1,000-raise from the cutoff. Jeff Lisandro woke up in the small blind and he cold four-bet shoved for 9,800. The opener called and Gathy got out of the way.

Lisandro patted and his opponent drew two cards, but he wasn't able to outdraw Lisandro's {9-}{8-}{7-}{6-}{2-} and Lisandro locked in the double.

Raymer Forces Everyone Out

Level 7 : 200/400, 600 ante

Four-way to the draw, three players peeled one card and Greg Raymer took two on the button. A player in the big blind fired 3,200, earning one fold, but Scott Abrams called in the cutoff. Raymer, however, announced a raise to 12,000. The big blind immediately released his hand, but Abrams seemed to have a tougher time figuring out his move. He spent around a minute thinking about the situation, and eventually let his hand go.
