Boivin Defeats Kornuth

Level 8 : 1,000/2,000, 0 ante

With about 14,000 in the pot and the board reading {10-Spades}{9-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{q-Spades}, Thomas Boivin bet 4,500 from the big blind and Chance Kornuth called from the button.

The river was the {k-Clubs}, Boivin bet effectively 12,000 and Kornuth mulled it over for a bit before he called all in.

Boivin tabled {j-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} for a rivered straight, besting Kornuth's {a-Clubs}{10-Clubs} to advance to the next round.

Kolev Finishes Off Seidel

Level 8 : 1,000/2,000, 0 ante

Erik Seidel raised it up to 4,000 on the button and Boris Kolev defended from the big blind. The flop came {q-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{8-Diamonds} and Kolev check-called a bet of 3,000 from Seidel.

The turn was the {10-Clubs} and Kolev led out for 4,000 this time. Seidel called and the {4-Hearts} landed on the river. Kolev announced all in and Seidel quickly folded with just 14,500 chips remaining.

Just a couple of hands later, Seidel got the last of his chips in the middle with {a-}{2-} against Kolev's {a-Clubs}{7-Clubs}. There was no help for Seidel on the board and he was eliminated.

Katz Doubles Through Sarmiento

Level 8 : 1,000/2,000, 0 ante

In a limped pot, Cary Katz led the {q-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{2-Spades} flop for 3,000 and called all in for the last 13,000 when Steven Sarmiento pushed.

Katz tabled the {q-Spades}{4-Hearts} for top pair while Sarmiento was trailing with the {10-Spades}{6-Diamonds}. The {4-Clubs} turn and {q-Diamonds} turned top pair into a full house and Katz doubled.

Talley Cracks Aces to Move On

Level 8 : 1,000/2,000, 0 ante

Caufman Talley limped in on the button and Warwick Mirzikinian raised it up from the big blind. Talley called and the two players saw a flop of {10-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{5-Spades}. Talley started with a check and Mirzikinian fired out a bet. Talley check-raised and the two players quickly got all of the chips in the middle.

Caufman Talley: {7-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}
Warwick Mirzikinian: {a-Hearts}{a-Clubs}

Talley flopped two pair to take the lead against Mirzikinian's pocket aces. The {2-Diamonds} on the turn and the {6-Clubs} on the river changed nothing. The stacks were counted and Talley barely had Mirzikinian covered as he earned a berth into the next round.

Peters Runs Into a Straight

Level 9 : 1,200/2,400, 0 ante

A completed board of {j-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{4-Spades}{5-Spades} was spread across the felt with around 18,000 in the middle. The action was on David Peters in the big blind who stuck in a bet of 50,000. Jonathan Jaffe instantly announced all in for slightly less with 41,600.

Peters showed {k-Clubs}{9-Hearts} for just king-high while Jaffe tabled {9-Diamonds}{6-Spades} for a straight. Jaffe earned a double up, leaving Peters on just seven big blinds.

Duka and Yaiche Double

Level 9 : 1,200/2,400, 0 ante

Ole Schemion jammed into Anatoliy Duka and the latter called for his last 16,800.

Anatoliy Duka: {q-Spades}{10-Diamonds}
Ole Schemion: {k-Hearts}{5-Hearts}

The {a-Clubs}{q-Hearts}{5-Spades} flop gave both players a pair, and the Duka turned two pair with the {10-Spades}.

"Now a king," Schemion demanded, however, the {7-Clubs} river was a blank.

Basil Yaiche also doubled when he held up for the last 18,800 with {q-Hearts}{10-Hearts} against the {j-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} of Manig Loeser. The board came {a-Clubs}{8-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{6-Hearts} and the queen was good enough for Yaiche.
