Today is the start of Event #17: $1500 NLHE Shootout and play gets underway at 11.00 a.m. with the 2000-player maximum registration closing after level 3.

Preston Lee, a 32-year-old poker pro from Millbrae, California, is the 2018 defending champion of this event, winning $236,498 and the WSOP bracelet in last year's corresponding event. Other familiar gunslingers who played the event last year and cashed included Phil Hellmuth and Martin Jacobson. The tournament is a very special one, and is expected to attract some of the world's top players once again, with many well-known faces flocking to the felt for their share of the prize pool.

Both Days 2 and 3 are expected to start at 11.00 a.m. across the next two days, but today is the day cards are in the air and each table will play to a winner to see who progresses to the next shootout table. It's one of the most popular events of the World Series of Poker, and action kicks off at 11.00 a.m local time.
