Money Bubble Looms on Day 3 of Event #26: $2,620 No-Limit Hold'em Marathon

Chips
Chips

There will be 188 players returning to the felt for Day 3 of Event #26: $2,620 No-Limit Hold'em Marathon. When the cards get in the air, everyone will have one initial goal in mind...to make the money! It won't be much of an issue for chipleader David Coleman who bagged a whopping 651,200 chips, enough for over 250 big blinds.

Coleman will be looking to carry his Day 2 momentum into today and will likely be using his big stack to apply some money bubble pressure. It will be a great opportunity for some of the big stacks to increase their lead as the action will tighten up. Some other big stacks to keep an eye on include Timothy Miles (483,400), Morten Mortensen (524,500), and Yu Dong (407,500) as the only other players above 400,000 chips.

There are also plenty of WSOP gold bracelet winners in the field who will be looking to add some more jewelry to their collection. Christopher Frank, David Pham, Adrian Mateos, and Ryan Leng are just some of those who still remain in contention. Along with a WSOP bracelet for the winner, they will also be granted a payday of $477,401 for first place. However, the first order of business will be to dwindle the field down to 163 players in order to make the money. A min-cash will earn you $3,928 but the money bubble could be a long one with the average stack hovering around the 80 big blind mark.

The action will resume in the Miranda Room at 1 p.m. local time with the blinds resuming at level 13. The blinds will be 1,200/2,400 with a 2,400 big blind ante. The levels will continue to be 100 minutes long with a 15-minute break after each level. A dinner break is scheduled to follow the fourth level which will take place at approximately 8:20 p.m. Another six levels are on the schedule for today at which point the remaining players will bag and tag to return for Day 4.

Follow along with the PokerNews live reporting team for full coverage of the day's action to see who will make it into the money today!

Cheong Claims First Victim in First Hand

Level 13 : 1,200/2,400, 2,400 ante
Joseph Cheong
Joseph Cheong

Joseph Cheong raised from the early position, action folded to Andrew Sardella in the small blind who shoved for 52,200 and was called.

Andrew Sardella: {a-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}
Joseph Cheong: {a-Clubs}{a-Hearts}

The flop came {7-Spades}{2-Hearts}{10-Clubs} which kept Cheong ahead and got Sardella up from his seat.

The turn was the {j-Clubs} which gave Sardella a glimmer of hope as he picked up a gutshot to a Broadway but he bricked the river as the {4-Clubs} completed the board. They shook hands before Sardella made his way out of the Miranda Room and the table broke to balance the other tables out.

Hart Bursts the Bubble by Eliminating Isla

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante
Taylor Hart (in a previous event)
Taylor Hart (in a previous event)

Joel Isla shoved from the hijack for 36,500 and was called by Taylor Hart in the big blind. The players accidentally flipped open their cards but were told to close them again as not all action was completed on the other tables. Once every other table was done, the suspense that was building up on the table and around it could be lifted as the board could be dealt.

Joel Isla: {a-Diamonds}{10-Spades}
Taylor Hart: {a-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}

The flop came {6-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} to keep Hart ahead but another deuce could split the pot.

The turn was the {3-Clubs} which didn't change much, it just added more outs for Isla to stay alive if another deuce or trey would complete the board.

The river was the {k-Hearts} which meant the end of Isla's run in the tournament and that the bubble has now burst. Isla made his way out of the Miranda Room while the rest of the field celebrated the fact that they were now in the money.

Ben Palmer
Ben Palmer

The action folded to Ben Palmer who raised it up on the button. Dave Stefanski stuck in a three-bet from the big blind and Palmer just called.

With around 70,000 in the pot, the flop fell {9-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{3-Hearts} and Stefanski moved all in for around 75,000. Palmer snapped him off and the cards were tabled.

Ben Palmer: {a-Spades}{a-Hearts}
Dave Stefanski: {q-Hearts}{10-Hearts}

Stefanski flopped a straight and flush draw but neither the {6-Spades} on the turn nor the {5-Clubs} on the river were of any help to him.

Fernandez Wins a Big Flip

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Sergio Fernandez
Sergio Fernandez

Johan Schumacher opened from early position and Sergio Fernandez stuck in a three-bet from the small blind. Schumacher four-bet ripped all in for 195,000 and Fernandez went into the tank for a couple of minutes before making the call.

Sergio Fernandez: {j-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}
Johan Schumacher: {a-Spades}{k-Spades}

It was a coin flip with around 400,000 up for grabs. The flop came {8-Spades}{5-Clubs}{3-Hearts} and Fernandez remained in the lead with his pair of jacks. The {5-Hearts} on the turn was no help to Schumacher and the {j-Hearts} on the river gave Fernandez a full house for good measure.

Stoyan Obreshkov

Picking up the action on the turn with the board reading {q-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{a-Spades} and around 55,000 in the middle, the action was on Olivier Busquet in the cutoff. Busquet tossed in a bet of 27,000 and Stoyan Obreshkov called from the big blind.

The {j-Spades} landed on the river and Obreshkov moved all in for 69,500. Busquet asked for a count and pondered for a moment before making the call. Obreshkov tabled {j-Clubs}{10-Spades} while Busquet tabled {a-Clubs}{q-Spades} for two pair to claim the pot.

"Good call," Obreshkov said as he wished the table good luck as well.

"I had a key card," Busquet replied showing off the {q-Spades}.

Ole Schemion
Ole Schemion

A completed board of {a-Spades}{q-Spades}{2-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{k-Spades} was spread across the felt and just Olivier Busquet and Ole Schemion were heads-up from the blinds. The pot had around 50,000 in the middle and Busquet checked from the small blind.

Schemion counted out a bet of 33,000, leaving himself with just 36,000 behind. Busquet check-raised all in and Schemion thought for nearly two minutes. He eventually made the call and Busquet tabled {j-Clubs}{10-Clubs} for a straight. Schemion, however, flipped over {8-Spades}{2-Spades} for a flush to score a double up.

Johan Guilbert

Peter Hong raised to 12,000 from the early position and Vladimir Revniaga three-bet to 38,000 in mid-position. Johan Guilbert called in the late position. Johan Guilbert: {a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}
Yan Lavrovsky: {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts}

The board ran out {q-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{q-Clubs}{5-Spades} for Guilbert to hold with the rockets to double up. Lavrovsky got up from his chair but when the stacks were counted out, Guilbert had 295,000 in total, leaving him behind with around four big blinds.
