Miles Calls Down Guilbert

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

Johan Guilbert raised to 12,000 in middle position and was called by Timothy Miles in the cutoff along with the big blind. The flop came {q-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{7-Clubs} and the big blind checked to Guilbert who bet 6,000. Miles called and the big blind got out of the way.

The turn brought the {2-Clubs} and Guilbert tossed in another small bet of 6,000. Miles still called and the {5-Diamonds} completed the board. Guilbert sized up a bit this time with a bet of 22,000 and Miles quickly called. Guilbert showed {q-Hearts}{j-Spades} but Miles held {k-Spades}{q-Spades} for the better kicker.

Phachara Wongwichit
Phachara Wongwichit

Joseph Liberta raised to 13,000 from under the gun and Phachara Wongwichit shoved for 43,000 in the hijack. Ryan Leng decided to do the same thing from the big blind and Liberta asked for a count. Leng said he had 245,000 behind which made Liberta consider the call for a while but he folded in the end.

Phachara Wongwichit: {10-Spades}{10-Diamonds}
Ryan Leng: {a-Diamonds}{j-Spades}

The board ran out {9-Clubs}{a-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}{6-Clubs} for Leng to flop top pair to eliminate Wongwichit.

Russell Finds a Kind River

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

Picking up the action on the turn with the board {9-Clubs}{5-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{k-Clubs} and around 65,000 already in the pot, the action was on Matt Russel in the cutoff. Russell bet 27,000 and David Pham check-raised to 77,000 from the big blind.

Russell called and the {a-Clubs} landed on the river. Pham checked again and Russell slid out a bet of 100,000. Pham instantly called and Russell turned over {10-Clubs}{7-Clubs} for a rivered flush.

"Don't Call Me a Nit"

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

Joseph Liberta raised to 13,000 from the hijack and the player in the cutoff called. Igor Pinheiro three-bet to 45,000 from the button. Francis Anderson decided to shove in the big blind for 410,000 in total, Liberta and the cutoff quickly folded but Pinheiro needed some more time to contemplate what to do. After a while in the tank, Pinheiro opted to fold.

"You made a really good fold!" Anderson commented before flipping over {k-Clubs}{q-Clubs}.

The whole table looked on in shock.

"What? He called me a nit!" Anderson justified the move. "I'm a New Yorker, don't call me a nit! I just shoved 65 big blinds with king-high!"

The whole table but Pinheiro all guffawed at what had just happened.

Interesting River Puts Schemion in the Tank

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante
Ole Schemion
Ole Schemion

A completed board of {a-Spades}{q-Spades}{2-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{k-Spades} was spread across the felt and just Olivier Busquet and Ole Schemion were heads-up from the blinds. The pot had around 50,000 in the middle and Busquet checked from the small blind.

Schemion counted out a bet of 33,000, leaving himself with just 36,000 behind. Busquet check-raised all in and Schemion thought for nearly two minutes. He eventually made the call and Busquet tabled {j-Clubs}{10-Clubs} for a straight. Schemion, however, flipped over {8-Spades}{2-Spades} for a flush to score a double up.

Fernandez Flops a Set to Scoop Massive Pot

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante
Sergio Fernandez
Sergio Fernandez

Sergio Fernandez opened to 13,000 from under the gun and Ian Matakis three-bet to 40,000 from the hijack. The action folded back to Fernandez who made the call to go heads-up to a flop of {q-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{6-Spades}.

Both players checked the flop and the {2-Diamonds} landed on the turn. Fernandez bet 55,000, more than half of the pot and Matakis called. The river was the {a-Spades} and Fernandez thought for over a minute before announcing all in.

Matakis thought even longer and after a few minutes, flicked in a chip to call. Fernandez revealed {6-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} for a set of sixes while Matakis could only muster {k-Spades}{q-Clubs}, as he was sent to the payout desk.
