Ivey Chipping Up

Level 9 : 1,200/2,400, 300 ante
Phil Ivey
Phil Ivey

Phil Ivey was one of the max-late entrants into the tournament, having just taken a seat and won a few pots to chip up.

Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better

Ivey raised from middle position and received calls from players in the hijack and big blind. The flop came {9-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{a-Clubs} and the big blind checked to Ivey, who made a continuation-bet. The hijack called and the big blind folded. The turn was {8-Clubs} and both players checked. The river came {j-Hearts} and Ivey bet. His opponent folded and he took down the pot.

On the very next hand, Ivey opened from under the gun and action folded around to the small blind, who called. Brandon Shack-Harris was in the big blind and called as well, taking the three to a flop of {10-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}{5-Spades}. The small blind and Shack-Harris both checked and Ivey made a continuation-bet. Both players called.

The turn came {q-Hearts} and both players checked. Ivey fired another barrel and both players folded, making it two consecutive pots won without showdown for Ivey, who has over one-and-a-half stacks already.

Deeb Climbing Steadily

Level 8 : 1,000/2,000, 200 ante
Shaun Deeb
Shaun Deeb

Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better

Shaun Deeb has been seen having more chips with each passing through the room. In the latest edition, he was in a hand from the big blind versus the player on the button.

The board read {5-Spades}{8-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} and Deeb had a bet in front of him. His opponent thought for about 30 seconds and made the call.

Deeb tabled {10-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{6-Clubs}, announcing three tens which was good to get his opponent to muck as he added to his stack. He is currently either the chip leader or very close to it with more than two-and-a-half levels left to play before bagging for the evening.
