Record Breaker

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 0 ante

The tournament has broken the record number of players in this event. There are a total of 486 players on the clock and last year's tournament attracted 476 hopefuls.

Registration for the tournament is still open until the start of Day 2 tomorrow. We do know that defending champion Loren Klein isn't going to win his fifth bracelet in this event since he was eliminated from the tournament.

Pescatori Eliminated

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 0 ante

Max Pescatori got his last 20,200 in the middle when the board read {10-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}. Pescatori showed {a-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{9-Hearts} and he was up against the {q-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} of his opponent who already had a straight.

The river was the {3-Hearts} and Pescatori wasn't able to improve so he was sent to the rail.

Last Break of the Night

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 0 ante

The remaining field is off on their final fifteen-minute break of the evening. When they return, they'll play two more one-hour levels before bagging and tagging for the night.

Geilich Getting Shorter and Shorter

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 0 ante
Ludovic Geilich
Ludovic Geilich

Ludovic Geilich had a very decent start of the day but has been all down since. Geilich is down to only 16,000 which is 16 big blinds for the next five minutes until the blinds go up.

Geilich defended his big blind when Joao Vieira raised to 2,500 from the cutoff. The flop fell {q-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{4-Hearts} and both players checked. The turn was the {a-Diamonds} and Geilich checked again. Vieira now fired a bet of 4,000 and that was enough to make the Scotsman fold.

Beauprez Sends One to the Rail

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 0 ante

A player opened to 3,500 from the cutoff, leaving himself just 2,200 behind. The small blind called, and John "KasinoKrime" Beauprez made the call from the big blind.

The small blind bet 2,200 on the {6-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{7-Clubs} flop, and Beauprez and the cutoff both called.

The {k-Diamonds} turn was checked through, and the small blind tossed a single 1k chip out on the {2-Clubs} river. Beauprez called, and the small blind said, "Two pair," before showing {k-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{x-}{x-}, but he was bested by Beauprez and his {q-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}, while the cutoff mucked and left the table.
