The month of June is coming to a close in this historic 2019 World Series of Poker but that does not mean the action is finished. Today marks the penultimate day of Event #65: $10,000 Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better Championship.

After registration closed at the beginning of Day 2, the field size of 193 was locked, with a race to the finish in true freezeout fashion the rest of the journey. Day 2 brought an unusual structure to the tournament with the day finishing after only six one-hour levels of play. That means 43 players will return today with their sights on the final table. Of those 43 players, 29 will find themselves finishing in the money.

Entering the day atop the leaderboard is two-time bracelet winner Chris Vitch (795,000). The next two players behind him are bracelet winners Scott Bohlman (628,000) and Bryce Yockey (535,000). Though these three players are the only ones above the half-million mark, they are not the only bracelet winners in this world-class field, with Brian Hastings (394,000), Steven Wolansky (389,000), Nick Schulman (380,000) and Joe Hachem (346,000) all hoping to add more jewelry to their collections.

The start time for the day has been pushed forward, meaning cards will be in the air at 12 noon local time. Play is scheduled to continue until the field reaches six players, but with 43 remaining, that could mean a full 10 levels are needed to hit that mark. Stay tuned to PokerNews for all the pertinent news and updates on play as Day 3 of the $10,000 Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Lo Championship unfolds.

Gamble Fires Three

Level 17 : 4,000/8,000, 0 ante

Nathan Gamble opened to 20,000 from under the gun and action folded around to Michael Mizrachi who defended his big blind. The two saw a flop of {10-Spades}{7-Spades}{2-Clubs} and Mizrachi checked. Gamble fired a continuation-bet of 12,000 and received a call.

The turn came {2-Spades} and Mizrachi checked to Gamble again, who fired a second barrel for 20,000. Mizrachi called and the river was {2-Diamonds}, bringing three deuces to the board. Mizrachi checked once more and Gamble put in a bet of 37,000. Mizrachi's cards were in the air en route to the muck pile before gamble finished putting out his bet and he took down the pot without a showdown.

Hastings Wins on Turn

Level 17 : 4,000/8,000, 0 ante

With bets of 16,000 and 30,000 in front of each player from previous streets on a board reading {10-Hearts}{a-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}, Steven Wolansky checked from the small blind and Brian Hastings put in a bet of 80,000 from the cutoff.

Wolansky went into the tank for over a minute and ultimately let his hand go, bringing Hastings closer to the 500,000 mark early on in the day.

Aldridge First to Fall

Level 17 : 4,000/8,000, 0 ante

In the previous hand, Chase Steely raised the maximum of 28,000 on the button, leaving himself with just 18,000 behind. Michael McKenna called from the big blind and chose to bet first on {a-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}. Steely was seemingly unpleased with the situation and gave it ample thought before deciding to fold.

In the subsequent hand, Ken Aldridge raised to 25,000 from the hijack, Steely called all in from the cutoff, and McKenna also called from the small blind. The flop was {9-Spades}{8-Clubs}{4-Hearts} and McKenna checked. Aldridge shoved all in for his remaining 24,000 and McKenna called it off.

Chase Steely: {a-Spades}{j-Spades}{9-Clubs}{3-Clubs}
Ken Aldridge: {a-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}
Michael McKenna: {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{3-Spades}

The turn and river didn't bring a low and kept Steely's hand ahead for the high, who tripled up. Aldridge lost the side pot to McKenna and was eliminated.

Sill Doubles Through Esposito

Level 17 : 4,000/8,000, 0 ante

John Esposito opened the action with a raise to 25,000 from the button and was called by John Sill in the small blind. The flop came {5-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}{6-Spades} and Sill ripped his last 56,000 into the pot. Esposito wasted no time calling and the two tabled their hands.

John Sill: {a-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}
John Esposito: {k-Hearts}{k-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}

The turn and river came {5-Spades}{2-Spades}, giving Sill a six-high straight with the nut low to secure the double.

"Sorry Bud, Next Time"

Level 17 : 4,000/8,000, 0 ante

Chase Steely was all in again and at risk for 50,000, once again against Michael McKenna. Steely held the {a-Spades}{q-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} and McKenna went with {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}.

The board came down {a-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}{4-Spades}{8-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}, which gave Steely the scoop with aces and fours. However, neither McKenna nor Steely seemed to notice it at first glance, and Steely even tapped the table in defeat. Leif Force, the dealer, and several others quickly pointed out that Steely indeed held the winner, and McKenna quickly apologized. The table had a good laugh about it.

"Sorry bud, next time!" grinned Force. "Sorry I doubled you up!" Matt Livingston added.

Hachem Folds To Down Bet, Hartmann Eliminated

Level 17 : 4,000/8,000, 0 ante

Joe Hachem raised to 18,000 from middle position and action folded back to Nathan Gamble in the big blind. Gamble put in a pot-sized three-bet to 58,000 and Hachem asked for confirmation of the amount, thinking for a few moments before making the call.

The flop came {j-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}{5-Spades} and Gamble bet 25,000. Hachem again asked for confirmation and went into the tank. Two minutes later, he pushed his cards forward for the dealer to muck them and Gamble took down the pot.

Meanwhile, Tony Hartmann was eliminated on an adjacent table, bringing the tournament close to condensing to five full tables of eight-handed play.
