Schwartz Finds Lucky Double

Level 8 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Ylon Schwartz was all in for his last 14,500 from early position and he ran with {4-Hearts}{4-Spades} into Christian Pham's {j-Hearts}{j-Spades}.

Schwartz stood up, ready to leave the table, but the {4-Clubs}{q-Spades}{7-Clubs} pushed him ahead. Pham failed to catch up on the {2-Diamonds} turn and {a-Clubs} river and Schwartz doubled up.

Willis Gets Paid

Level 9 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

Three-way to a flop of {4-Clubs}{5-Spades}{q-Diamonds}, Brian Wilson and Liv Boeree checked from the blinds and Nikita Luther bet 4,000 from an early position. Only Wilson called as Boeree gave up.

Both Wilson and Luther checked the {5-Clubs} turn.

Wilson led out 12,000 on the {3-Spades} river, saying, "You don't have anything to call with."

Luther, however, quickly flicked in a chip and Wilson turned over {6-Spades}{5-Hearts} for trips. Luther mucked.

Weissman Doesn't Like Diamonds

Level 9 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

Scott Bohlman and Joey Weissman went to the {10-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{7-Hearts} flop in what looked like a three-bet preflop pot with just under 20,000 in the middle. Weissman fired 8,500 from the small blind and Bohlman called in the hijack.

The turn fell {5-Diamonds} and Weissman opted to check. Bohlman bet 15,000 and Weissman let his hand go.

Ferguson Bets Out Korenev

Level 9 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

Roman Korenev raised to 3,500 in middle position and Chris Ferguson three-bet to 10,000 from the cutoff. Action returned to Korenev who called.

They went to a flop of {j-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{a-Clubs} and Korenev checked. Ferguson fired 8,000 and Korenev called.

The {2-Spades} hit the turn and Korenev checked again. Ferguson threw in 16,000 and Korenev waived the white flag.

Double for Boeree

Level 9 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

The cards had already been turned up and the board of {6-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{a-Spades}{a-Clubs} had been dealt by the time the hand was caught, but it became apparent that Liv Boeree found a full double through Angel Guillen who held {7-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}.

Boeree had peeled {a-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} in the big blind, besting her left-hand neighbor thanks to aces on the turn and river. Boeree improved to around 95,000 while Guillen slipped to 78,000.

Slezak Shows a Queen

Level 9 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

Davidi Kitai, who joined the tournament in recent minutes, tangled with Bob Slezak in a pot which saw them make it to the {10-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{q-Spades} turn with around 20,000 in the middle.

Kitai fired 14,000 from early position and Slezak paused, then threw in 30,000. Kitai didn't waste any time and quickly released his hand.

Slezak, in return, flipped one of his hole cards, showing the {q-Diamonds}.

Kakon Folds to Gathy's River-Bet

Level 9 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

Michael Gathy was in middle position, closing the action on the river of the {5-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}{k-Spades}{q-Diamonds} board. The pot had already grown to about 80,000 in chips and Gathy's right-hand neighbor William Kakon had checked.

Gathy cut out a bet of 41,000, putting in roughly two-thirds of his remaining stack. Kakon tanked for a while but he couldn't convince himself to call. He let his hand go and Gathy dragged the pot, vaulting to the neighborhood of 145,000.
