Nguyen Four-Bet Shoves on Werthmann

Level 20 : 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante

Tommy Nguyen made it 45,000 in the first position and Thom Werthmann three-bet to 120,000 directly to Nguyen's left. Action returned to Nguyen who briefly scanned Werthmann's stack and then moved all in, covering his opponent's 700,000 or so.

Werthmann tanked for about two minutes and then laid his hand down.

Zhang led out for 100,000 and Pillai called. The turn was the {4-Spades} and Zhang checked. Pillai put out a bet of 200,000 and Zhang mucked.

Apter Gives Up on River

Level 19 : 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante

On the last hand of the level, Brett Apter limped in the small blind, Upeshka De Silva checked and they went to a flop of {j-Clubs}{8-Spades}{a-Clubs}. Apter bet 17,000 and De Silva called.

Apter fired a second barrel, making it 60,000 on the {k-Diamonds} turn. De Silva called again.

The {10-Clubs} hit the felt and Apter paused for over a minute before he checked. De Silva took a little longer and then bet what looked like 218,000. Apter folded within a second.

Klatt Gets a Dub

Level 19 : 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante

Andreas Klatt raised all in under the gun and action folded to Michael Gagliano who matched the 259,000-wager from the big blind.

Klatt tabled a premium hand, the {a-Clubs}{k-Hearts}.

"That's not good for me," Gagliano observed, rolling over {a-Hearts}{10-Clubs}.

The {4-Clubs}{a-Spades}{2-Spades}{6-Spades}{4-Hearts} board left the kicker the deciding factor and Klatt doubled up.

Cord Garcia
Cord Garcia

Cord Garcia was all in for 405,000 and was called by Tommy Nguyen.

Garcia: {q-Diamonds}{j-Spades}
Nguyen: {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs}

The dealer put out a flop of {k-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{7-Spades} and Nguyen paired his king to take a commanding lead. Garcia picked up a gut-shot straight draw, but couldn't get there after the {2-Hearts} and {4-Spades} hit the felt, sending him to the rail in 11th place for $4,402.

James Mackey Eliminated in 12th Place ($4,402)

Level 19 : 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante
James Mackey
James Mackey

James Mackey shoved for about 17 bigs from the button and Brett Apter peeled a strong hand in the small blind. Apter reshoved and Upeshka De Silva folded in the big, giving a green light to the showdown.

Mackey: {q-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}
Apter: {a-Spades}{k-Clubs}

Mackey had a worse hand but both of his cards were live. Nonetheless, he couldn't catch any piece of the board as the dealer spread out the {5-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{7-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{a-Diamonds} on the felt.

Mackey wished the table good luck before picking up a payout slip for his 12th-place finish.

De Silva's Turn to Double

Level 19 : 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante

James Mackey made it 35,000 on the button and Upeshka De Silva jammed his 161,000 from the big blind. Mackey got the count confirmed and then called, despite indicating that he wasn't happy about the situation.

Mackey had {k-Hearts}{2-Hearts} and he had live cards against {a-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}, but the {7-Spades}{7-Clubs}{a-Diamonds} flop didn't give him an inch.

The turn was, however, the {2-Spades}. Mackey needed another one but the {9-Diamonds} river stayed with De Silva.

"Ooof, that deuce," De Silva laughed.

Level 19 : 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante

Cord Garcia opened to 40,000 from the hijack and James Mackey shoved all in for 262,000 from the button. Garcia called.

Mackey: {8-Spades}{8-Clubs}
Garcia: {a-Spades}{q-Hearts}

It was a flip, with Mackey being the player at risk but ahead. The board ran out {j-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{4-Spades} and Mackey held on to double through.
