Robert Campbell

Action folded to Robert Campbell in the small blind and he completed. John Richards then raised the pot to 30,000 and Campbell called. The flop came {k-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{6-Clubs} and Campbell checked. Richards fired 45,000 into the middle and Campbell raised to 160,000. Richards three-bet to put Campbell all in and Campbell pushed the rest of his chips forward.

Robert Campbell: {k-Spades}{8-Spades}{5-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}
John Richards: {k-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}

Richards was ahead with top and bottom pair but Campbell had an open-ended straight draw and outs to a higher two pair. The turn came {3-Spades}, however, and Campbell found himself drawing dead. The meaningless river {2-Hearts} then came and Campbell was eliminated, meanwhile Richards inches closer to two million while he spoke of reaching ten million as he raked in his chips.

With Robert Campbell currently second in the race to become WSOP Player of the Year, that hand could be very important in deciding whose face is on a banner at next year's World Series of Poker.
