Deeb Crosses the Century Mark

Level 12 : 1,500/3,000, 0 ante
Shaun Deeb
Shaun Deeb

Shaun Deeb's chip stack keeps growing, and he may be the first in the room over 100,000.

The cards were turned over and mucked, but an all-in player stood up and left, and another player pushed his chips into a massive pot in the middle, which Deeb leaned in and retrieved himself.

Deeb now sits with 108,000 and is having a ball at the table.

Nut Flush Vs. Nut Low

Level 12 : 1,500/3,000, 0 ante

Three ways on a flop of {6-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}, JJ Liu led out from the big blind and was called by the player in the cutoff. Another player on the button made it two bets and undeterred, Liu made it three bets. The player in the cutoff folded, and the button called.

Liu continued to bet and was called down on the {9-Hearts} turn and {8-Spades} river. Liu tabled {a-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}{10-Hearts} for the nut flush. Her opponent revealed {a-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}, which was good for the low and the two chopped up the pot.

Liu, who registered late into Day 1, has accumulated nicely and is sitting on about 50,000 in chips.

Deeb and Fuchs Battle and Banter

Level 12 : 1,500/3,000, 0 ante

Two players whose stacks are going in opposite directions are playfully bantering at table 449.

After chopping a pot with him, Carol Fuchs stood up and asked that "Shaun Deeb is the nut low" be written in the blog.

She also dropped a word several times that looks similar to how her last name is spelt, to which a tablemate remarked, "that's the first time I've heard her curse all day!"

Just another day at a table with Shaun Deeb.

Forrest On Fumes

Level 11 : 1,200/2,400, 0 ante

Six-time bracelet winner Ted Forrest is clinging to a short stack, and had his opportunity to double up snuffed out by the river.

Forrest got the last of his 3,500 chips in on the turn when the board read {3-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{8-Hearts}{3-Clubs}.

Ted Forrest: {10-Clubs}{10-Spades}{4-Hearts}{4-Spades}
Opponent: {a-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}

Forrest would have to settle for a chopped pot after the {5-Clubs} fell on the river, giving his opponent a low.

River is Wack for Zack

Level 11 : 1,200/2,400, 0 ante

Dan Zack was just the victim of an unfortunate river card that cost him at least half the pot.

Zack in the small blind, and the big blind both check-called a bet from the button on a turn board that read {q-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{2-Clubs}.

The {2-Clubs} fell on the river. After the button bet again, Zack and the big blind both called again.

The button showed {a-Spades}{q-Spades}{7-Spades}{5-Hearts} for a rivered straight to claim the high half of the pot.

The big blind showed {a-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{k-Clubs} to win the low half, after Zack frustratedly flashed {a-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} for a counterfeited low draw and an unseen high hand which he mucked.

Hastings Flushed Out

Level 11 : 1,200/2,400, 0 ante
Brian Hastings
Brian Hastings

Brian Hastings was all in on the turn on a board reading {6-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{k-Hearts}{k-Spades} against a lone opponent.

Hastings held {9-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}{6-Spades} for a flopped flush, but was drawing dead against the {q-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{5-Clubs} of his opponent for a higher flush.

An irrelevant {4-Spades} completed the board and Hastings was knocked out late into Day 1.
