Grafton Doubles to Stay Alive

Level 11 : 10,000/15,000, 15,000 ante

The action folded to Calvin Lee on the button who ripped all in with two shorter stacks in the blinds. Jason Koon folded his small blind but Sam Grafton quickly called off his stack of 199,000 in the big blind.

Sam Grafton: {a-Diamonds}{q-Spades}
Calvin Lee: {a-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}

Grafton was in a dominating position and the flop of {k-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} kept him in the lead. The {2-Hearts} on the turn changed nothing and the {q-Hearts} on the river only improved Grafton to a pair of queens for the double up.

Mateos Fires Three Barrels

Level 11 : 10,000/15,000, 15,000 ante
Adrian Mateos
Adrian Mateos

Adrian Mateos raised it up from middle position and was called by Chance Kornuth and Carlos Chadha in the blinds. The flop came {a-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} and the action checked to Mateos who continued for 30,000. Kornuth folded but Chadha stuck around to see the {a-Clubs} on the turn.

Chadha checked to Mateos who fired another bet of 125,000 this time. Chadha still called and the {5-Clubs} completed the board. Chadha checked for the third time and Mateos unloaded the clip, shoving all in for 341,000. Chadha wasted little time before mucking his cards and Mateos collected the pot.

At another table, start-of-day chipleader Jake Daniels was in a battle with Mustapha Kanit. Daniels ended up on the losing side of a massive pot as Kanit appears to have taken over the chip lead.

Chen Doubles Through Iadisernia

Level 11 : 10,000/15,000, 15,000 ante

James Chen was under the gun with 227,000 and he shipped all in. The action folded around to Giuseppe Iadisernia who asked for a count before making the call to put Chen at risk.

James Chen: {j-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}
Giuseppe Iadisernia: {a-Spades}{q-Spades}

The flop of {k-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} put Chen out front with a pair of tens but Iadisernia picked up a straight draw to go along with his two live cards. The {3-Hearts} on the turn and the {5-Diamonds} on the river changed nothing and Chen held on for a double up.

Just a few hands earlier, Jonathan Jaffe and Jared Jaffee tangled in a large pot that saw Jaffe pull in the chips to climb over the two million chip mark.

Funaro Gives Up on the River

Level 11 : 10,000/15,000, 15,000 ante

Jonathan Jaffe opened to 30,000 in early position and Frank Funaro defended from the big blind. The flop came {7-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} and Funaro started with a check. Jaffe continued with a bet of 30,000 and Funaro check-raised to 115,000 which Jaffe called.

The turn brought the {2-Clubs} and Funaro checked again. Jaffe counted out a bet of 130,000 only to have Funaro check-raise again to 475,000 this time. Jaffe still called and the {10-Diamonds} completed the board.

Funaro checked once more and Jaffe quickly checked it back. Funaro turned over {q-Clubs}{9-Clubs} for a missed flush draw and Jaffe tabled {j-Clubs}{j-Diamonds} for the overpair.
