Hoang Solidifies His Standing

Level 31

After Peder Berge brought in with the {9-Hearts}, John Hoang completed with the {q-Hearts} and was called by Jermaine Reid with the {k-Spades}. Berge folded to leave the other two to battle.

Reid had the betting lead and used it on fourth and fifth streets, where he was called by Hoang.

Hoang's board made a better king-high on sixth street, and he took over the betting lead. Reid called, and then faced one more bet from Hoang on seventh.

John Hoang: {x-}{x-}/{q-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}/{x-}
Jermaine Reid: {x-}{x-}/{k-Spades}{2-Spades}{6-Hearts}{j-Hearts}/{x-}

The final bet was one that Reid could not call, leaving Hoang to drag the large pot, and putting himself firmly on the short stack with now just about four big bets.
