Jeff Gross Eliminated in 7th Place ($17,712)

Level 28 : 50,000/100,000, 100,000 ante
Jeff Gross
Jeff Gross

Jeff Gross had been quiet today, not getting involved in many pots. One of the pots he did play turned out to be his last of the tournament.

Gross raised to 350,000 with around 200,000 behind and Matthew Humphrey raised enough to put Gross all in. Gross quickly called.

Jeff Gross: {a-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{2-Spades}
Matthew Humphrey: {a-Spades}{k-Clubs}{q-Spades}{2-Hearts}

Humphrey paired his queen on the {q-Hearts}{9-Spades}{7-Clubs} flop to take a big lead in the hand. The rest of the board ran out {4-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} and Gross went around the table wishing each of the players good luck before heading for the payout desk.

Mlsna Makes the Right Call

Level 28 : 50,000/100,000, 100,000 ante

In a limped pot in a blind-versus-blind situation, Matthew Mlsna bet 175,000 on a flop {k-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds} and Matt Maiya made the call.

The turn was the {6-Hearts} and Mlsna bet 500,000 this time, which was called once more by Mamiya.

The {a-Spades} completed the board on the river and Mlsna checked before facing a bet worth 600,000 from Mamiya.

Mlsna ended up calling, showing {q-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{7-Spades}{5-} for a flopped straight. Mamiya sent {k-Diamonds}{q-}{10-Diamonds}{3-} into the muck.

Humphrey Takes Last Pot Before Break

Level 28 : 50,000/100,000, 100,000 ante

Four players, including Matthew Humphrey in the cutoff and Mourad Amokrane in the big blind, saw a flop of {j-Spades}{9-Hearts}{4-Hearts}. Amokrane bet out 225,000 and only Humphrey called.

Both players checked the {10-Spades} turn before Amokrane bet 255,000. Humphrey raised to 1,200,000 and, as the tournament clock went into the break, Amokrane tanked for about two minutes before laying his hand down, showing a jack and a nine.

Paulo Villena Eliminated in 6th Place ($23,392)

Level 29 : 60,000/120,000, 120,000 ante
Paulo Villena
Paulo Villena

Matthew Humphrey called under the gun for 120,000 and it folded to Paulo Villena who pushed his entire stack forward from the small blind. He had too many chips to make an all-in raise, so his total bet was 360,000, with around 80,000 chips left behind. Dustin Nelson took a minute and raised. Humphrey folded and Villena called with his last chips to see the following shwodown:

Paulo Villena: {j-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{6-Diamonds}
Dustin Nelson: {q-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}

The board revealed {8-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}, giving the straight to Nelson on the turn and eliminating Villena in 6th place.

Mlsna Doubles Into the Chip Lead

Level 29 : 60,000/120,000, 120,000 ante
Matthew Mlsna
Matthew Mlsna

Matthew Humphrey opened the action with a raise to 250,000 from the button. Matthew Mlsna called in the small blind before Matt Mamiya re-raised to 1,000,000 in the big blind. Both Humphrey and Mlsna called.

Mlsna and Mamiya checked over to Humphrey on a {3-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{k-Diamonds} flop, and he bet 2,500,000. Mlsna called all in for 2,185,000 and Mamiya folded.

Matthew Mlsna: {k-Hearts}{k-Spades}{q-Diamonds}{8-Spades}
Matthew Humphrey: {k-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{7-Hearts}

Mlsna had flopped a set of kings to take the lead in the hand. The {7-Clubs} turn gave Humphrey a straight draw, but he bricked the {9-Diamonds} on the river as Mlsna finished with a full house to get the massive double-up.

Mamiya Takes It Without Showdown

Level 29 : 60,000/120,000, 120,000 ante

Dustin Neslson raised to 250,000 under the gun and it was called by Matt Mamiya and Mourad Amokrane in the blinds.

The flop {8-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{5-Spades} was dealt and the three players checked to see the {8-Diamonds} on the turn. It checked again to Nelson who bet 325,000 and both Mamiya and Amokrane called.

When the {q-Clubs} hit the river, Mamiya thought about his move for a minute and potted for 1,750,000, with just a few chips left. Amokrane quickly folded and Nelson took a minute before folding as well.
