Diebold Pays Off Gorodinsky

Level 24

Badugi

Ben Diebold was aiming to raise on the button and put in 85,000 in chips, which was certainly not enough to qualify for a raise and thus became a flat-call. Mike Gorodinsky checked in the big blind and drew three, Diebold drew one. Gorodinsky check-called a bet and both took one each to check. Gorodinsky then patted while Diebold took another card, then faced Gorodinsky's bet.

"I started with one, two, four, I am such a fish," Diebold declared in table chat. Once he called and Gorodinsky tabled the {k-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{a-Spades} for a Badugi, Diebold added "I suck".

The remaining Badugi hands brought not much of an excitement. Brian Rast three-bet against Gorodinsky and patted versus two, bet and took it down.

Next game: A-5 Triple Draw, courtesy of Christopher Claassen.

Diebold Gets it Back

Level 24

Limit A-5 Triple Draw

Ben Diebold raised on the button and was called by Mike Gorodinsky in the big blind.

Gorodinsky drew three, while Diebold drew two.

The players then checked, and each drew two.

Gorodinsky now led out with a bet, which was called by Diebold.

The players now drew one card each, and Gorodinsky check-called a bet from Diebold.

Diebold showed {6-}{5-}{4-}{3-}{2-} for a six low and Gorodinsky mucked his cards, awarding a pot to Diebold that brings him back over 3,000,000 chips.

Diebold Ramps Up Aggression

Level 24

No-Limit Hold'em

Ben Diebold raised to 80,000 and table short stack Christopher Claassen defended the big blind. On a flop of {q-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}{8-Spades}, Claassen checked and then folded when Diebold made it 60,000 to go.

Brian Rast then opened to 90,000 and claimed the blinds and antes.

Diebold open-jammed into Rast to claim back the big blind.

Pot-Limit 2-7 Triple Draw

Diebold raised it up to 80,000 on the button for Rast to call in the small blind. They discarded two each and checked, then took one each. Rast bet 155,000 and Diebold instantly folded. With his aggressive playing style as of lately, he has established a larger lead nonetheless.

Diebold Draws More Blood

Level 24
Ben Diebold
Ben Diebold

Pot-Limit 2-7 Triple Draw

A three-way poker "bloodbath" just developed which has seen Ben Diebold solidly establish himself as the chip leader.

Diebold raised to 80,000 in the cutoff and was called by Brian Rast on the button and Christopher Claassen in the big blind.

Claassen drew three, while the others each drew two.

After Claassen checked, Diebold bet 200,000 and was called only by Rast.

The players each drew one, and after he checked his cards, Diebold quickly announced, "pot".

Rast now faced a bet of 700,000 chips, which represented over half of his remaining stack.

Rast took some time before opting to fold and preserve his chips, as Diebold has now crossed the four million chip mark.

Level 24

Christopher Claassen

Pot-Limit 2-7 Triple Draw

Christopher Claassen raised to 120,000 in the small blind and was called by Ben Diebold. They headed to the first draw on which Claassen took two and Diebold took one. Claassen checked, Diebold bet the pot and then instantly called the all-in of Claassen for around 700,000.

Claassen discarded one card and was up against a pat, then patted the final draw and Diebold patted back.

Claassen announced a nine and showed the {9-}{5-}{4-}{3-}{2-} but Diebold instantly replied with a "not good" before flipping over the {8-}{7-}{6-}{4-}{3-}.

Just after the hand, Joey Couden showed up at the rail and Diebold had asked him how his Badeucey game was because that's what Mike Gorodinsky picked. Couden replied with a "good" and Diebold nodded.

In the meanwhile, Claassen headed to the payout desk to collect $98,738 for his fourth place finish.

Gorodinsky Dents Rast's Stack

Level 24

Badeucey

Brian Rast raised out of the small blind and then called a three-bet by Mike Gorodinsky in the big blind. Both discarded one card in each of the three drawing rounds and Rast check-called a bet by Gorodinsky each time.

Gorodinsky announced an eight Badugi and Rast nodded with a "me too ... what's your pair" to get shown the {2-Clubs} / {8-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{3-Spades}{2-Diamonds} by his opponent. Rast shook his head and flashed his cards to Gorodinsky only before tossing the cards into the muck.

Rast Gets One Through

Level 24

Badeucey

Ben Diebold raised out of the small blind and Brian Rast called in the big blind. Both discarded two cards and Diebold check-called a bet. On the second draw, Diebold took two and Rast patted. The check by Diebold was followed by Rast's bet, who had exactly one big bet behind.

Diebold mulled it over for a short while and folded.

Diebold Using His Stack

Level 24

No-Limit Hold'em

While a big pot hasn't developed, Ben Diebold has been using game selection to strategically chip up where possible, as in his last few game choices, he's picked No-Limit Hold'em, moving all in repeatedly on the button and using his chip lead to his advantage.

Brian Rast Eliminated in 3rd Place ($134,370)

Level 24
Brian Rast
Brian Rast

Brian Rast moved all in from the button and got called by Ben Diebold in the big blind.

The five-time WSOP bracelet winner and two-time Poker Player's Championship winner was at risk and dominated.

Brian Rast: {a-Spades}{7-Diamonds}
Ben Diebold: {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}

The dealer spread a flop of {8-Hearts}{k-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}, putting Rast in dire shape.

The {6-Spades} turn officially ended Rast's run with the inconsequential {4-Spades} placed on the river, bringing Diebold heads-up against Mike Gorodinsky.
