Markholt Frustrated and Short Stacked

Level 27 : 50,000/100,000, 0 ante

Michael Moncek opened the pot from early position, then called when Lee Markholt re-raised in the big blind. The flop came {5-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{a-Hearts} and Moncek called a bet.

Markholt bet again when the turn came {a-Spades} and Moncek called to the river. Markholt slowed down when it came the {2-Clubs} and checked, allowing Moncek to put out a bet.

Markholt shot back in his chair and began muttering to himself before tossing his cards back to the dealer after a few moments.

Pocket Sevens Good for Ross

Level 27 : 50,000/100,000, 0 ante
Ben Ross
Ben Ross

Michael Moncek raised in the hijack and both Ben Ross, in the cutoff, and Christoph Kwon, in the small blind, called.

The dealer fanned a flop of {j-Spades}{j-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} before Kwon and Moncek checked to Ross who fired out a bet. Only Moncek called.

On the {5-Clubs} turn, Moncek check-called another bet from Ross.

When the {5-Hearts} landed on the river, both players quickly checked. Moncek tabled {a-Spades}{k-Hearts} for ace-high and Ross took down the pot with {7-Spades}{7-Clubs}.

Wolansky Drops Two in a Row

Level 27 : 50,000/100,000, 0 ante

In a blind versus blind battle, Steven Wolansky raised and Yueqi Zhu defended. The flop came {3-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}{9-Hearts} and Zhu called another bet.

Zhu also called the {5-Diamonds} turn before Wolansky checked when the river came the {4-Diamonds}. Zhu did the betting this time and Wolansky paused for a moment before putting in a blue 100,000 chip to call.

Zhu turned over {q-Spades}{6-Spades} for a pair of queens to win the pot.

On the next hand, Wolansky reraised over a preflop open from Nick Pupillo and Pupillo called to the {9-Spades}{3-Hearts}{k-Clubs} flop. Pupillo checked and Wolansky put out a bet.

Pupillo came back with a raise and Wolansky called. Pupillo bet again on the {4-Diamonds} turn and this time Wolansky gave up and surrendered his second consecutive pot.

Fred Lavassani
Fred Lavassani

Damoun Nikouie raised in middle position and Fred Lavassani defended the big blind.

The dealer spread a flop of {10-Hearts}{7-Spades}{2-Spades} and Nikouie called the check-raise from Lavassani.

The {10-Spades} hit the turn and Lavassani fired a shell which Nikouie snap-called.

The {q-Diamonds} landed on the river and Lavassani instantly cut out a bet. Nikouie tanked for about 10 seconds as he sigh-called. Lavassani tabled {2-Hearts}{2-Clubs} for a full house on the turn and Nikouie showed his {a-Spades}{q-Hearts} before passing the chips to Lavassani.

Kwon Lays a Trap in Big-Stack Battle

Level 27 : 50,000/100,000, 0 ante

Christoph Kwon raised from under the gun and called when fellow big-stack Joe McKeehen reraised from middle position. The flop came {8-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}{6-Spades} and Kwon check-called a bet.

The turn was the {9-Hearts} and Kwon checked to McKeehen again. McKeehen bet and Kwon called to see the {10-Diamonds} river.

Kwon checked again, but this time McKeehen checked behind.

"I got it," Kwon said, turning over {k-Clubs}{q-Clubs} for the rivered straight.

Damoun Nikouie Eliminated in 10th Place ($8,446)

Damoun Nikouie

Damoun Nikouie raised under the gun and Christoph Kwon put in the three-bet in the small blind. Nikouie quickly four-bet and Kwon put the final raise in. Nikouie had 180,000 total and made the call.

Damoun Nikouie: {q-Spades}{10-Spades}
Christoph Kwon: {k-Spades}{j-Diamonds}

Nikouie was only slightly behind but the {k-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} flop left him needing runner-runner. Unfortunately for Nikouie the {5-Hearts} had him drawing dead and the {9-Diamonds} river was just a formality. Nikouie was eliminated in 10th place for $8,446.

Ross Gets the Best of the Champ

Level 27 : 50,000/100,000, 0 ante

Ben Ross called a reraise from small blind Joe McKeehen and they went heads up to a flop of {7-Spades}{a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}.

"Wow, wow, wow," Ross said while re-checking his cards after McKeehen led out. He eventually called and both players checked the {5-Spades} turn.

McKeehen checked again on the {6-Diamonds} river and Ross took the opportunity to bet. McKeehen called after a brief pause.

"Just an ace," Ross said, turning over {a-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} which was good enough to win the pot.

"Let's go, we beat the champ!" he yelled as players got up to go on break.
