Betil Leads the Pack as Day 3 of the $2,500 Mixed Triple Draw Lowball Event Begins

Bariscan Betil
Bariscan Betil

Making the final day of a bracelet event will get anyone's heart beating, especially with $164,243 up for grabs for first place. Seventeen players find themselves there as Day 3 of Event #17: $2,500 Mixed Triple Draw Lowball begins today at the 2022 World Series of Poker in its new home at Bally’s and Paris Las Vegas.

Bariscan Betil sits on top of the leaderboard, amassing 1,190,000 chips after two days of play. Betil seeks to put his first gold bracelet on the proverbial mantle, but he will have to contend with a profuseness of experience behind him on the leaderboard.

Jerry Wong (1,140,000) sits just behind Betil on the leaderboard. Wong has made nine World Series of Poker final tables, but his search for a gold bracelet has eluded him. He looks to change that today with a commanding chip stack.

Behind them sit a class of estimable players that have accumulated an impressive collective 15 total gold bracelets. Andrew Brown (1,010,000), Frank Kassela (750,000), Matthew Schreiber (740,000), John Monnette (600,000), Alex Epstein (475,000), Daniel Strelitz (425,000), Galen Hall 310,000), Steve Zolotow (310,000), and Ralph Perry (80,000) are those bracelet holders who will look to add to their collection.

Players will continue to play 60-minute levels with 15-minute breaks every two levels. Play will pick up in the Bally's Event Center at 2 p.m. local time.

Keep it locked here to PokerNews for all the triple draw action as we play our way to a winner today.

Badugi

Galen Hall raised from the button only to have Philip Eisman three-bet from the big blind. Hall four-bet all in for 90,000 total and Eisman called.

Both players took one on both the first and second draws before standing pat. Hall's last draw was a five to give him a {7-}{5-}{4-}{2-} badugi but it was no good as Eisman rolled over the {a-Spades}{2-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}.

Hall hit the rail in 15th place, which wasn't a bad result as yesterday he indicated that before this tournament he had never played badugi nor ace-to-five.

A-5 Triple Draw

Ralph Perry raised all in for 30,000 from the cutoff and Frank Kassela completed to 50,000 from the button. Daniel Strelitz called from the big blind and there was 40,000 in a side pot.

All three players drew three and then Strelitz check-called a bet. Both he and Perry took two on the second draw while Kassela drew one.

Both active players checked and on the final draw Strelitz took one, Perry two, and Kassela one. Strelitz checked and then folded when Kassela bet.

"Seven-six," Kassela declared and tabled his hand, which prompted Perry to muck. The dealer briefly showed Perry's hand, which appeared to contain a jack low, before the bracelet winner headed to the payout desk in 14th place.

Yehuda Buchalter Eliminated in 13th Place ($7,565)

A-5 Triple Draw

Alex Epstein raised to 60,000 from the hijack only to have Jerry Wong three-bet from the button. Yehuda Buchalter then four-bet all in for 115,000 from the small blind and both Epstein and Wong called.

The draw went 3-2-2 and Epstein checked. Wong bet and then called when Epstein check-raised.

The second draw went 2-3-1 and Epstein bet 60,000, which Wong called.

On the final draw, Buchalter took one, Epstein stood pat, and Wong drew one. Epstein checked and Wong did the same.

Epstein tabled {6-}{5-}{4-}{3-}{a-} and it was good as Wong flashed a queen before mucking and Buchalter had paired with his {6-}{6-}{5-}{4-}{3-}.

Buchalter's elimination in 13th place brings about a two-table redraw.

Matthew Schreiber raised before Maury Barrett moved all in for his last 60,000. Schreiber called and called for a heart while taking one. Barrett stood pat.

Schreiber stood pat on the second draw. "Are you going to make me break it," Barrett asked before he also stood pat.

Schreiber ended with a {a-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}{5-Clubs} and Barrett tapped the table before making his way to the payout desk.

2-7 Triple Draw

Philip Eisman opened the pot with a raise. Action folded to Bariscan Betil in the big blind who three-bet, leaving himself 30,000 behind, and Eisman called.

Both players checked the first draw before Betil got the last of his chips in the middle after each drew one on the second. Eisman finished with 9-8-5-4-2, while Betil turned over a ten as the overnight chip leader was eliminated in 10th place.

2-7 Triple Draw

A preflop raising war resulted in Jerry Wong and Frank Kassela each committing 160,000. The former then drew one and the latter stood pat.

Wong check-called a bet and then drew one. Kassela stood pat once again.

Wong checked, Kassela bet 80,000, and Wong check-raised to 160,000. Kassela three-bet to 240,000 and called off his last 10,000 after Wong popped it back.

Both players stood pat and Kassela tabled {8-}{7-}{6-}{5-}{2-}. Unfortunately for the three-time bracelet winner it was no good as Wong drew to a winning {7-}{6-}{4-}{3-}{2-}.

2-7 Triple Draw

Andrew Brown was all in on the second draw up against Daniel Strelitz as they both drew one.

Strelitz showed first and turned over 7-6. "Did I get there," Brown said as he peeled his last card.

He didn't catch what he needed and the bracelet winner hit the rail in ninth place. "Day 3s have not been kind to me this year," he lamented as he made his exit.

A-5 Triple Draw

"Alright, this is it," Alejandro Torres said as he raised. Dominick Sarle re-raised and Torres called, leaving himself 60,000 behind.

Both players drew two and got the last of Torres' chips in. Torres patted the last two draws and showed 7-5-4-2-A.

"Would be a sick way to go," tablemate Alex Epstein said as Sarle took one. He caught a 6-4-3-2-A as the entire table gasped at Torres' elimination.

The seven remaining players are now redrawing for seats at the final table.

Badugi

Philip Eisman moved all in for his last 80,000. Action folded to small blind Matthew Schreiber who announced a three-bet and John Monnette called in the big blind.

Monnette stood pat and bet after the first draw, getting rid of Schreiber. Eisman stood pat on the first draw but took one on the second and third draws.

Monnette had {9-Clubs}{4-Spades}{2-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} for a Badugi. Eisman was showing {6-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{5-Spades} and needed to improve but caught the {a-Diamonds} and was eliminated in seventh place.
