Day 2 of Event #2: $100,000 High Roller Bounty at the 2022 WSOP at Bally’s and Paris Las Vegas saw fast-paced action that narrowed down a field of 16 to 5.

Play lasted just five levels with a flurry of eliminations within the first few minutes of action, including Laszlo Bujtas, Frank Crivello and Bill Klein.

Chance Kornuth began what turned out to be a day-long heater with a huge double through day 1 chipleader Justin Young, courtesy of a rivered straight. From that point on, he seemed unstoppable, eliminating the likes of Daniel Negreanu and Matthew Steinberg, ultimately bagging a stack of 14,265,000 good for 143 big blinds. Other players returning for Day 3 include David Peters (8,920,000), Ali Imsirovic (1,815,000), Dario Sammartino (1,740,000) and Koray Aldemir (860,000).

Day 2 Recap

Of the initial 46 runners only seven were paid and it was Nick Petrangelo who was the unfortunate bubble boy with his pocket kings being cracked in brutal fashion by the pocket eights of Phil Ivey. It was Ivey who was the first finisher to get paid, his seventh place finish good for $133,127.

The relatively unknown Matthew Steinberg was next out, scoring a $180,872 payday, blowing his previous best cash of $2,125 out of the water.

That saw the table reach the final five players who will return Thursday, June 2nd at 1pm PDT for Day 3. The final day will be livestreamed on PokerGO on a 1-hour delay. Pokernews will also be providing updates on the same delay as the tournament plays down to a winner, who will receive a WSOP Gold Bracelet and $1,166,810 for their efforts.
