Katz Makes the Right Call

Level 12 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

Cary Katz was in position in a heads-up pot against Dae Woong Song on a board reading {9-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{q-Spades}{a-Clubs}{9-Hearts} with around 15,000 in the middle.

Song led out with a bet of 6,500 and Katz raised to 25,000. Song then three-bet jammed a stack of about 165,000 and Katz entered the tank as he considered calling off for his final 60,000.

"I have a good hand," Katz offered. "You got eights? Ace-nine?"

Katz eventually tossed in a reluctant called. Song nodded in defeat and turned over {a-Spades}{4-Spades} for a weak ace and a missed flush draw, while Katz emphatically tabled {j-Clubs}{9-Clubs} for trips to win the pot and double up.
