"That's Why You're Phil Ivey"

Level 5
Phil Ivey
Phil Ivey

Phil Ivey: {j-Clubs}{5-Spades}{10-Hearts}{q-Spades}/{5-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}
David Lieberman: {4-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{a-Clubs}{7-Clubs}/{x-}{x-}{x-}

With action picked up on fifth street, David Lieberman check-raised Phil Ivey, who responded by putting out a third bet. Lieberman called and wished Ivey good luck.

Spoiler alert: Be careful what you wish for.

Lieberman then checked sixth street and called another bet from the Poker Hall of Famer.

On seventh street Lieberman checked once more and then deliberated after Ivey put out another bet.

Ultimately Lieberman made the call to hear Ivey say "I have a very good hand" as he rolled over three fives in the hole for quads.

"That's why you're Phil Ivey" said Lieberman with a smile.

Lieberman still has plenty of reason to smile despite losing this pot as he still has almost triple his opponent in this hand.

Deeb Survives With Flush

Level 5
Shaun Deeb
Shaun Deeb

Shaun Deeb: {10-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{9-Hearts}/{6-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{3-Spades}
David Funkhouser: {k-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{4-Spades}/{k-Spades}{j-Diamonds}{x-}

On fifth street, Shaun Deeb bet with three hearts showing, David Funkhouser raised to make Deeb put in his few remaining chips which he did.

Deeb turned over the {7-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} for a flush draw while Funkhouser had the {k-Spades}{j-Diamonds} for a pair of kings. It was little sweat for Deeb as sixth street was the {9-Hearts} to immediately fulfill his flush. Funkhouser was drawing dead at that point and Deeb scooped the pot to remain alive.

Rotholz's Baby Pair Holds Up

Level 5

Hal Rotholz: {3-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}/{3-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{8-Spades}
Christopher Claassen: {j-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{10-Hearts}{8-Hearts}/{x-}{x-}{x-}

After Christopher Claassen raised Hal Rotholz's bring-in, Rotholz defended, then called a bet on fourth street.

Rotholz picked up an ace on fifth street to take the betting lead but checked, then called another bet from Claassen.

Rotholz checked sixth and seventh streets, and Claassen shut down the aggression, checking back both streets.

Rotholz then showed another three in the hole for just a pair of threes, which were enough to win the pot and bring his short stack a bit of health.

Meanwhile, Alex Livingston has joined the field at this table as well.

Kassela Dusts Deeb

Level 6
Shaun Deeb
Shaun Deeb

Earlier in the day as Shaun Deeb was getting short on chips, he was chatting with Frank Kassela about how he was the first player eliminated in last year's $10,000 Seven Card Stud Championship.

Unfortunately for the five-time bracelet winner, it's an early exit again for him, this time at the hands of Kassela.

Deeb was stepping away from the table as the pot was pushed toward Kassela who had a pair of queens in front of him, while Deeb's ace-king high sent him off to the next tournament in his annual quest for WSOP Player of the Year.
