Hohn Rivers a Flush to Advance

Level 14 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

Steve Hohn made the snap call after Nicholas Palma moved all in with just a handful of big blinds left.

Nicholas Palma: {a-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}
Steve Hohn: {j-Clubs}{5-Clubs}

Palma was ahead, but the {8-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} flop gave Hohn a flush draw without doing much to improve Palma's hand. The {8-Hearts} turn paired the board, helping nobody before the {7-Clubs} river completed the flush for Hohn to beat Palma's ace high and send him to the rail. Hohn punched his ticket to Day 2 of the tournament. He will collect at least the minimum cash of $5,835.

Tice-Schulz Battle Continues

Level 14 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

Landon Tice and Kevin Schulz entered heads-up play quite some time ago and it has turned into something of a marathon. Tice limped from the button and Schulz checked his option out of the big blind.

On the {6-Spades}{8-Hearts}{2-Spades} flop Schulz checked to Tice who led out for 8,000. It was enough to get Schulz off his hand and send a small pot Tice's way.

Mothes Scores Knockout to Advance

Level 14 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

Pierre Mothes moved all in from the button and was called by the player in the big blind. "You've got me this time", said Mothes before revealing his hand. He did, however, have his opponent covered by quite a bit.

Big Blind Player: {q-Hearts}{j-Spades}
Pierre Mothes: {10-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}

Though he had been got, Mothes did have two live cards and in fact pulled ahead on the {4-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{5-Clubs} flop. There was to be no further sweat after the {10-Spades} left Mothes' opponent drawing dead to the meaningless {4-Spades} river.

Goulder Outkicks his Way into Day 2

Level 13 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

With 11,500 behind, Kevin Rock opened the action with an all-in shove. Alex Goulder made the snap call.

Kevin Rock: {7-Spades}{9-Hearts}
Alex Goulder: {k-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}

The {2-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} flop gave both players top pair, but Goulder was ahead with the better kicker. The {4-Spades} turn paired the board before the {8-Hearts} completed it. With no help coming from the board, Kevin Rock was eliminated. In doing so, Alex Goulder punched his ticket to Day 2. He will take home at least the minimum cash of $5,835.

Mustapha Kanit had a commanding chip lead over his opponent and moved all in from the button. The player in the big blind called off his last few chips.

Big Blind Player: {9-Hearts}{6-Clubs}

The {7-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{4-Spades}{2-Spades} runout kept Kanit ahead and ensured he moves on to the next round.

Katchalov Finishes the Job

Level 13 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Eugene Katchalov
Eugene Katchalov

Eugene Katchalov shoved from the button and Masato Yokosawa called off for his last 23,000.

Masato Yokosawa: {j-Clubs}{9-Clubs}
Eugene Katchalov: {8-Clubs}{6-Spades}

Yokosawa was ahead with jack-high but that was no longer the case after Katchalov paired his eight on the {8-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} flop. Nothing changed on the {q-Hearts} turn or {a-Hearts} river, securing Katachalov's place in round 2.
