Kornuth Gone Short of the Money

Level 15 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante
Chance Kornuth
Chance Kornuth

As the field approaches the money, play has understandably slowed down, to the irritation of some players. Chance Kornuth, however, has been having some fun with his stalling tactics, joking around with the rest of the table. "It's painful to stall, may as well have some fun with it," he said as he took an inordinately long amount of time to release his small blind.

A couple of hands later Kornuth did move his stack into the middle from the button and was called by Felipe Ketzer out of the big blind.

Chance Kornuth: {5-Hearts}{5-Clubs}
Felipe Ketzer: {7-Hearts}{7-Spades}

Konruth was in a deep hole though the {2-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{6-Spades} did give him some additional outs. He could not hit on the {j-Hearts} turn or {10-Clubs} river sending him to the rail just a few spots off the money.

Yankov Survives Near the Bubble

Level 15 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

Taylor Paur opened to 13,000 under the gun and Krasimir Yankov moved all in for 75,000 from the cutoff. Action folded back around to Paur, who made the call to put Yankov at risk.

Krasimir Yankov: {a-Hearts}{j-Clubs}
Taylor Paur: {k-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}

Yankov was behind and would need a lot of help to survive and keep his hopes of cashing alive. That help was quick to come on the {10-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{a-Diamonds} flop, leaving Paur drawing thin. Nothing changed on the {3-Hearts} turn or {10-Spades} river, giving Yankov a full double up while Paur took a small blow to his stack.

Everyone Loves a Chop Pot

Level 15 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante
Christopher Frank
Christopher Frank

On a board of {7-Hearts}{9-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{a-Spades}, Christopher Frank was betting 27,000 from the button versus the big blind of Kyriakos Papadopouluos, who made the call.

The {q-Clubs} fell on the river and the action went check, check and Frank showed {a-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} against the {a-Diamonds}{9-} of Papadopouluos for the chop

Papadopouluos thought the dealer had mucked his hand at first, but was relieved when he realised she knew it was a chop.
The excitement is palpable in the Bally's Convention Centre, as the bubble looms.

Break Time

Level 14 : 3,000/5,000, 5,000 ante

The remaining 160 players have been sent on their second break of the day. They will return to blinds of 3,000/6,000 with a 6,000 big blind ante. Given how close the field is to the money, expect bubble play to commence fairly shortly after play resumes.

Hallaert Hits Wheel, Opponent Hits Rail

Level 14 : 3,000/5,000, 5,000 ante

With 50,000 in the pot and a board of {a-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{2-Spades} the small blind bet 30,000 to big blind, Kenny Hallaert. Hallaert shoved all in for 199,000 and his opponent snap-called.

Kenny Hallaert: {3-Spades}{4-Diamonds}
Opponent: {a-Spades}{k-Diamonds}

Top pair, top kicker was no match for the wheel Hallaert hit on the river and his opponent was sent out of the tournament just before the second break of the day.
