Svenson Crushed After Running Ace-King into Kings Twice

Level 26 : 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante
Cheryl Svenson
Cheryl Svenson

Cheryl Svenson found herself in an pre-flop all in hand with Charles Mitchell, who put in his remaining 880,000.

Charles Mitchell: {k-Diamonds}{k-Spades}
Cheryl Svenson: {a-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}

After recently being one of the chip leaders with nearly four million, Svenson found herself with ace-king against kings for the second time in the last hour.

The {10-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{j-Diamonds} flop gave her a straight draw and a backdoor flush draw that vanished on the {2-Clubs} turn.

The {3-Spades} river meant Svenson's once-enormous stack had dwindled down to just 625,000 in record time.

Liebert Wakes Up to Aces

Level 26 : 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante
Kathy Liebert
Kathy Liebert

Action was picked up with around 700,000 in the pot and a flop of {q-Spades}{6-Spades}{3-Spades} on the board.

Valerii Lubenets, in early position, checked to Kathy Liebert in late position. She fired for 300,000 and got a call from Lubenets.

The {2-Hearts} turn was checked through before Lubenets fired for 500,000 and Kathy Liebert made the call. Lubenets turned over {10-Spades}{q-Clubs} for top pair before Liebert showed {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds}, good enough to take the pot.

Break

Level 25 : 25,000/50,000, 50,000 ante

Players are on their second 15-minute break of the day.

Butler Serves Up River Flush, Ends Block Party

Level 25 : 25,000/50,000, 50,000 ante

With 350,000 already in the middle on a {3-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{5-Hearts} flop, Keith Block continued for 105,000. Steven Butler, in the small blind, made a 330,000-chip raise. Block went all in for 1,600,000 total and Butler shrugged his shoulders and made the call.

Keith Block: {q-Clubs}{8-Clubs}
Steven Butler: {a-Hearts}{6-Hearts}

Block's top pair was about a 53% favorite against Butler's ace-high flush draw, which also had plenty of backdoor straight outs.

While the {6-Diamonds} turn gave Butler more outs on the river, it took away his potential straight outs and made him a 32% underdog.

However, the odds were in his favor as the {q-Hearts} arrived on the river, shoving a large pot Butler's way and eliminating Block.

Pett Rivers a Boat for Knockout

Level 25 : 25,000/50,000, 50,000 ante
Mark Pett
Mark Pett

Mark Pett opened from the cutoff for 110,000. Joseph O'Grady, on the button, moved all in with the effective stack of 650,000. Pett tanked for a minute before making the call.

Joseph O'Grady: {a-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}
Mark Pett: {k-Hearts}{10-Hearts}

Pett was behind, but that changed quickly when the {q-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{10-Spades} flop paired his ten. The {10-Clubs} turn improved him to trips before the {k-Clubs} river gave him a full boat, more than enough to best O'Grady's ace high and send him out of the tournament.

Notable Chip Stacks Around the Room

Level 25 : 25,000/50,000, 50,000 ante

The Day 2 chip leader, Ben Sarnoff, is far and away the chip leader in the room with a stack of roughly 8,000,000.

Sarnoff has nearly twice the number of chips as anyone else in the room in the fourth level of Day 3.

Kathy Liebert has recently doubled up with aces and is now around 1,300,000.

Fortunes are not the same for WSOP bracelet winner Larry Wright, who is running on fumes, with a stack of 220,000 and the big blind approaching.

Edwards Doubles, Jones Intercepts Knockout, Bichler Busted

Level 25 : 25,000/50,000, 50,000 ante

Robert Bichler opened from early position with a shove of 435,000. He got one caller, Noel Edwards in middle position, who had the effective stack of 430,000.

Noel Edwards: {8-Diamonds}{8-Spades}
Robert Bichler: {7-Clubs}{8-Clubs}

Bichler was behind, and when the {4-Spades}{j-Diamonds}{6-Clubs} flop provided just one club, he was drawing thin, but still had outs. The {9-Clubs} turn gave him a flush draw, but the {k-Hearts} river was a brick, and Edwards scooped the pot and doubled up, leaving Bichler with a single 5,000 chip.

On the very next hand, Bichler found himself under the gun and tossed his last chip into the pot. Deonarine Itwaru raised to 100,000. David Jones, the small blind, and Bruce Webb, the big blind, both made the call.

"You guys don't want to leave it alone? You want to intercept," Itwaru said as the blinds called, "This isn't football. These guys want to play football not poker."

The {3-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{a-Diamonds} flop was checked through before Jones fired for 300,000 on the {k-Hearts} turn. Webb folded quickly before Itwaru tanked for a few minutes, counting out chips several times, before finally mucking, giving the side pot to Jones, and letting him showdown heads-up against Bichler.

Robert Bichler: {k-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}
David Jones: {a-Hearts}{j-Spades}

The {10-Clubs} river completed the board, and Jones' pair of aces were enough to send Bichler to the rail. Itwaru told Jones he had him beat, as he had folded {a-}{q-}.
