Poker Player Wins WSOP Main Event Satty in His Sleep...Literally

Level 27 : 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante

For most, the saying, "I could win that poker tournament in my sleep," is laughable at best. But not for Eric Goldstein, who fell asleep Wednesday night, and then woke up to discover he'd won an $80 satellite into the 2022 WSOP Main Event on WSOP.com.

Goldstein told PokerNews he forgot he was registered for the satellite, which only awarded one seat into poker's most prestigious annual tournament, a $10,000 buy-in event.

Level 27 : 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante

James Jewell raised to 400,000 in the cutoff. Ronald Peterson called on the button and Massoud Eskandari also came along.

The flop came {k-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{7-Diamonds} and action checked to Peterson who bet 600,000. Eskandari put in the raise to 2,000,000. Jewell folded. Peterson moved all in and Eskandari called covering him.

Ronald Peterson: {a-Spades}{10-Diamonds}
Massoud Eskandari: {8-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}

Peterson needed a diamond if he was to keep his bracelet dreams alive but it didn't come as the turn was the {5-Clubs} and the river the {2-Hearts} which eliminated Peterson in 15th.

Gianera Catches Runner-Runner To Double

Level 28 : 50,000/100,000, 100,000 ante
Jennifer Gianera
Jennifer Gianera

Jennifer Gianera shoved the cutoff for 1,800,000 and PT Hayes called from the button with the bigger stack.

Jennifer Gianera: {j-Hearts}{j-Clubs}
PT Hayes: {k-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}

Gianera was in rough shape with the smaller pair but the {q-Hearts}{10-Spades}{7-Diamonds} flop wasn't the end.

The {9-Clubs} peeled off on the turn to make it interesting with an open-ended straight draw for Gianera.

Her prayers were answered on the {k-Clubs} river as she made a king-high straight to crack the set of kings of Hayes and survive.

There was already about a million in the middle on the {q-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{7-Diamonds} flop when Tom McDonald shoved for his last 1,350,000 and Jennifer Gianera called.

Tom McDonald: {k-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}
Jennifer Gianera: {a-Spades}{q-Spades}

Gianera held top pair, top kicker with her ace-queen, while McDonald had a flush draw.

The turn brought the {j-Clubs} to give him some additional outs, but the {2-Clubs} bricked off and he was eliminated.
