2022 WSOP Gold Bracelet

The first week of the 2022 World Series of Poker at Bally's and Paris Las Vegas has already brought us plenty of thrills and the action is only going to get hotter on Saturday night here in Las Vegas.

Only four players remain in the Event #6: $25,000 Heads-Up No-Limit Hold'em Championship, each looking to secure the $509,717 top prize and their first-ever gold bracelet.

Kevin Rabichow, Christoph Vogelsang, Dan Smith, and Dario Sammartino have already locked up $193,537 and are only two matches away from etching their name in poker history.

Rabichow, who is looking to better his second-place finish in the 2021 WSOP Event #87: $100,000 No-Limit Hold'em - High Roller, has beaten some of poker's greatest players to reach the semi-final. His path to the final four included wins against Daniel Negreanu, Masato Yokosawa, Phil Ivey, and Dylan Destefano.

To get to the final and put an additional $121,492 in his pocket, he will have to get past Vogelsang, who is number 21 on the all-time money list. The German has already taken down Benjamin Reason, João Vieira, Koray Aldemir, and Sean Winter.

Sammartino will hope to finally get his hands on a bracelet after eight previous top-four WSOP finishes, having already finished third in this year's Event #2: $100,000 High Roller Bounty No-Limit Hold’em. The Italian has beaten Matthew Steinberg, Cary Katz, William Stanford, and Chance Kornuth.

Sammartino's opponent will be the formidable Smith, who has over $10,000,000 in WSOP cashes and has finished in the top-three of eight WSOP events himself but has yet to taste the ultimate glory. Smith has already blown by Jake Daniels, Laszlo Bujtas, Alex Foxen, and Jonathan Jaffe.

The winners will then play one another in the final, which will be for an additional $194,688 ladder and the gold bracelet.

The semi-final matches today will get underway at 4 p.m. local time and PokerGO will have the coverage on a 60-minute delay. The PokerNews live reporting coverage will also be on the same delay to remain in sync with the live stream. The final will take place 30 minutes after the conclusion of both matches.

The PokerNews live reporting team will be on the tournament floor to bring you all of the live updates throughout the day so keep it locked here.

Dan Smith

Dario Sammartino opened the hand with a 65,000 chip bet and Dan Smith called.

The two players were both content to check the {k-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{10-Hearts} flop and they went to the turn.

The {2-Diamonds} caused Smith to bet 100,000. Sammartino called.

The river brought the {9-Diamonds} and after a minute, Smith fired out a bet of 270,000. After nearly two minutes of thinking, Sammartino let it go.

Bigger Two Pair for Rabichow, Pulls Even with Vogelsang

Level 41 : 25,000/50,000, 0 ante
Kevin Rabichow
Kevin Rabichow

Kevin Rabichow limped in on the button and Christoph Vogelsang checked his option. The flop came {6-Hearts}{4-Spades}{3-Diamonds} and Vogelsang check-called a bet of 50,000 from Rabichow.

The turn was the {j-Hearts} and Vogelsang checked again. Rabichow slung in a bet of 150,000 and Vogelsang stuck around to see the {5-Clubs} on the river. Vogelsang checked for the third time and Rabichow counted out a bet of 250,000.

Vogelsang called and Rabichow showed {6-Clubs}{5-Spades} for two pair. Vogelsang flashed {5-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} for a smaller two pair and Rabichow collected the pot.

Sammartino Doubles Up

Level 41 : 25,000/50,000, 0 ante
Dario Sammartino
Dario Sammartino

Dario Sammartino shoved his remaining 490,000 chips in the middle on the button and was called by Dan Smith.

Dario Sammartino: {a-Clubs}{10-Spades}
Dan Smith: {q-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}

The {7-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} was no help to Smith, though he would pick up a gutshot straight draw on the {j-Spades} turn.

The {k-Diamonds} river was clean for Sammartino, who is back near a million chips.

Kevin Rabichow Eliminated in 4th Place ($193,537)

Level 42 : 30,000/60,000, 0 ante
Kevin Rabichow
Kevin Rabichow

Kevin Rabichow made it 130,000 on the button and Christoph Vogelsang re-raised to 420,000 in the big blind. Rabichow called and the flop fell {9-Clubs}{5-Spades}{2-Diamonds}. Vogelsang continued with a bet of 250,000 and Rabichow called to see the {q-Clubs} on the turn.

It took Vogelsang nearly three minutes to push out a bet of 525,000 on the turn but Rabichow still called. The river was the {10-Diamonds} and Vogelsang thought for another three minutes before jamming all in. Rabichow had just over 800,000 chips remaining and quickly called it off.

Vogelsang flipped over {q-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} for top pair while Rabichow clearly had his mind made up as he tabled {7-Spades}{7-Hearts}. Rabichow was eliminated and will be forced to settle for a fourth-place finish while Vogelsang will be moving on to the final later this evening.

Dario Sammartino Eliminated in 3rd Place ($193,537)

Level 43 : 40,000/80,000, 0 ante
Dario Sammartino
Dario Sammartino

Dan Smith open-shipped all in on the button and Dario Sammartino called off his stack of 1,410,000 to put himself at risk.

Dario Sammartino: {a-Spades}{6-Clubs}
Dan Smith: {a-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}

It looked quite possible that a chop would take place again, but the flop of {9-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{4-Hearts} gave Smith the lead with a pair of fours. The {a-Clubs} on the turn gave Sammartino some more outs but the {k-Clubs} on the river sealed the deal.

Sammartino fell just short of winning his first WSOP bracelet while Dan Smith will be looking for his first when he takes on Christoph Vogelsang in the final.

Christoph Vogelsang raised to 180,000 on the button and Dan Smith called in the big blind. The flop fell {7-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{3-Hearts} and both players checked to the {8-Spades} on the turn.

Smith led out with a bet of 200,000 on the turn and Vogelsang complied with a call. The river was the {2-Diamonds} and Smith put together a pot-sized bet of 760,000. Vogelsang flicked in a chip to call and Smith tabled {8-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} for two pair to take down the pot and move into the lead.

Smith Runs All-In Bluff into Vogelsang Flush, German has 3:1 Chip Lead

Level 54 : 50,000/100,000, 0 ante
Christoph Vogelsang
Christoph Vogelsang

Christoph Vogelsang called and Dan Smith checked from the big blind.

The {6-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{a-Diamonds} flop brought a bet of 100,000 from Vogelsang and Smith called.

The {k-Diamonds} put three diamonds on the board and, after a minute, Vogelsang continued for another 325,000. However, Smith took his time and then elected to raise the turn to 925,000. Vogelsang thought for another 60 seconds and then made the call.

With 2.25 million already in the middle, the {7-Hearts} arrived on the river and after two minutes, Smith went all-in. Vogelsang snap-called and turned over {9-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} for a flush.

Smith looked rattled as he turned over the {8-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} to give the German a 3:1 chip lead.

Dan Smith

Christoph Vogelsang limped in on the button and Dan Smith raised to 450,000 in the big blind. Vogelsang three-bet shipped all in and Smith called off his stack of 2,740,000 chips.

Dan Smith: {6-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}
Christoph Vogelsang: {a-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}

Smith was in a great position to double up and the flop of {q-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{4-Spades} left him well out front. The turn was the {8-Clubs} which changed nothing and the {3-Hearts} secured the double up for Smith.

Dan Smith: {a-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}

Despite being dominated, Smith spiked a pair on the {4-Spades}{8-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} flop and took a huge lead. The board would run {7-Diamonds} {3-Spades} to give Smith his long-awaited first WSOP gold bracelet.
