Foxen continued with a bet of 24,000 and Kempton smirked as he flicked in a call. The turn was the {a-Clubs} and Foxen fired out another bet of 60,000 this time. Kempton folded and Foxen flashed the {9-Spades} as he was awarded the pot.

Picking up the action on the turn with the board reading {8-Hearts}{5-Spades}{5-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}, Marius Gierse tossed in a bet of 22,000. Chance Kornuth called and they saw the {4-Clubs} on the river.

Gierse checked this time, appearing uninterested in the hand anymore. Kornuth gave it some thought but decided to check it back. Gierse tabled {k-Spades}{8-Clubs} for two pair and Kornuth conceded the pot.

William Stanford opened to 5,000 on the button and Max Kruse three-bet to 17,000 in the big blind. Stanford just called and the dealer spread the flop of {k-Hearts}{6-Spades}{5-Hearts}.

Kruse continued with a bet of 16,000 and Stanford raised to 53,000. Kruse called and the {2-Diamonds} landed on the turn. Kruse checked this time and Stanford announced a bet of 84,000. Kruse mulled it over but decided to dump his cards in the muck.

"I was hoping you had aces," Stanford said. "Or ace-king."

Golden Nugget to Host $1,100 Buy-In, $1,000,000 GTD PokerNews Cup June 24-28

This summer, Golden Nugget Las Vegas will play host to the 14th Annual Grand Poker Series, which features 81 events and offers over $3 million in guaranteed prize money from May 31-July 3. One of those events is the $1,100 buy-in, $1,000,000 Guaranteed PokerNews Cup that will run from June 24-28.

The tournament will feature three starting flights beginning with Day 1a at 11 a.m. PT on Friday, June 24. Days 1b and 1c will take place at the same time on Saturday, June 25, and Sunday, June 26 respectively. The surviving players from each flight will return at Noon on Monday, June 27 to play down to the final table, which will play out at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, June 28.

João Vieira Eliminates Kane Kalas After Over Four Hours of Play

In the longest match of the first round, João Vieira defeated Kane Kalas to secure the last ticket to the second round.

Following Vieira's limp, Kalas shoved his {8-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} into Vieira's {a-Spades}{q-Spades}.

The flop was a dream for Vieira, going {j-Clubs}{a-Hearts}{6-Spades}, with the {2-Clubs} on the turn leaving Kalas drawing dead.

The {q-Diamonds} on the river completed the board, giving Vieira two pair.
