Vieira Edges in Front of Kalas

Joao Vieira and Kane Kalas were in a three-bet pot with over 40,000 in the middle already. The flop fell {k-Clubs}{9-Spades}{7-Clubs} and Kalas led out with a bet of 20,400. Vieira called and the {8-Spades} landed on the turn.

Kalas checked this time and Vieira checked it back to see the {3-Diamonds} on the river. Kalas checked again and Vieira quickly tapped the table. Kalas showed {a-Diamonds}{j-Spades} for ace-high while Vieira held {j-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} for a pair of nines.

Leonard Climbs Back into a Lead

Patrick Leonard
Patrick Leonard

A completed board of {9-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} was spread across the felt with a little over 70,000 chips in the pot. Marius Gierse checked to Patrick Leonard who ripped all in for 81,000.

Gierse went into the tank for a bit as he squirmed in his chair before finding a call. Leonard flipped over {10-Clubs}{7-Spades} for a full house while Gierse was left with {a-}{q-} for just ace high. Leonard scored himself a big double up and clawed his way back into a healthy chip lead.

Sam Soverel Regains Chip Lead over Masato Yokosawa

Sam Soverel is once again leading Masato Yokosawa after the two played a massive pot.

With 18,000 in the middle, the flop came {3-Hearts}{a-Spades}{7-Diamonds}. Soverel's bet of 5,000 was quickly called.

On the {k-Diamonds} turn, Soverel nearly potted it to 25,000. After about 10 seconds, Yokosawa called.

The {2-Spades} came on the river and Soverel jammed for his remaining stack and Yokosawa quickly tossed his cards into the muck.

Jaffe Knocks Out Peters

Jonathan Jaffe was seen standing up as he had just been victorious in his match against recent Event #2 winner David Peters.

According to a spectator, the rest of Peters' chips went in on the river on a {q-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} board, and Jaffe called.

Peters could only show {4-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} for a missed draw, while Jaffe's draw got there as he made the nut flush on the river with {a-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}.

Jaffe will return to play Faraz Jaka in the second round.

Two for Tice

Landon Tice limped in on the button and Mikita Badziakouski checked his option. The flop came {j-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{3-Spades} and Badziakouski checked to Tice who bet 3,000. Badziakouski check-raised to 12,000 and Tice called.

The turn was the {q-Spades} and Badziakouski continued with a bet of 11,000. Tice still called and the {3-Hearts} paired the board on the river. Badziakouski checked this time and Tice checked it back, showing {a-Spades}{j-Hearts} to win the pot.

On the next hand, it was another limped pot to the flop of {a-Clubs}{k-Spades}{3-Spades}. Tice led out with a bet of 10,000 and Badziakouski called to see the {9-Spades} on the turn. Tice flicked in another bet of 25,000 and Badziakouski laid his hand down.

Rabichow Eliminates Negreanu Following Brutal Cooler

Daniel Negreanu
Daniel Negreanu

Kevin Rabichow is into the second round, defeating Daniel Negreanu after winning two all-in spots.

In hand number one, Rabichow checked in the big blind following Negreanu's limp.

The flop came {7-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}. Negreanu min-bet to 6,000, Rabichow called.

Following the {4-Diamonds} on the turn, Negreanu made it 12,000 and was quickly re-raised all-in for Rabichow's remaining 81,100 chips. Negreanu snapped and turned over {q-Diamonds}{7-Spades}.

Unfortunately for Negreanu, Rabichow flopped a better two pair with his {q-Hearts}{10-Spades}. The {5-Clubs} on the river was no help and Rabichow took a 186,000 to 114,000 chip lead.

Two hands later, Negreanu shoved and was snapped off by Rabichow. Negreanu showed {4-Hearts}{4-Spades} while Rabichow turned over {a-Hearts}{j-Hearts} and they were off to the races.

The flop came {k-Hearts}{5-Spades}{10-Spades}, giving Rabichow a backdoor flush draw and a gutshot straight draw with two overs.

Rabichow improved to a flush draw on the {10-Hearts} turn and completed his flush with the {9-Hearts} on the river, sending the six-time WSOP champion to the rail.

Badziakouski Eliminates Tice

Landon Tice limped, Mikita Badziakouski raised to about 24,000, and Tice shoved. Badziakouski quickly called.

Landon Tice: {a-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}
Mikita Badziakouski: {8-Clubs}{8-Spades}

The {7-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} flop paired Tice, although he still needed to improve. The {4-Diamonds} turn added to his equity, but the {j-Clubs} river bricked out.

"Too many outs," Tice said.

A count confirmed Badziakouski had his opponent covered, and Tice was sent to the rail.
