Allis Tangles With Riess

Level 40 : 1,000,000/1,500,000, 1,500,000 ante

Ryan Riess bet 3,200,000 from the cutoff and was called by Mike Allis in the big blind.

Allis did their usual check in the dark on the flop of {q-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{7-Spades} and Riess bet 2,300,000. Allis cut out some chips and threw in 3,500,000 which was an under-raise.

The dealer announced as it was above 50% of the original bet and asked Allis to put in 4,600,000 for a valid raise. Riess smelt a rat and quickly made the fold.

Jaafar Doubles Through Chaura

Level 40 : 1,000,000/1,500,000, 1,500,000 ante

Basel Chaura bet 2,800,000 from the cutoff. Mohammed Jaafar on the button moved all in for 12,600,000. After Chaura asked for a count he made the call.

Mohammed Jaafar: {a-Spades}{k-Diamonds}
Basel Chaura: {k-Clubs}{j-Clubs}

The flop of {a-Clubs}{k-Spades}{3-Diamonds} virtually killed Chaura's hand as they would require a runner-runner to win the pot. The {2-Spades} turn confirmed Jaafar would win the pot and the {7-Spades} completed the board for Jaafar to double-up.

Chaura Wins Battle of the Big Stacks

Level 39 : Blinds 600,000/1,200,000, 1,200,000 ante

Basel Chaura opened to 3,000,000 from the button and Mike Allis called from the big blind.

The flop came {8-Hearts}{6-Spades}{4-Hearts} and after Allis checked dark, Chaura was fine checking it back.

The {6-Hearts} river put a pair and a flush on the board and Allis checked again to Chaura, who bet 3,000,000. Allis called.

The {q-Clubs} completed the board and Allis checked a third time over to Chaura, who sat there in deliberation before making it 5,000,000. Allis thought about it for about 15 seconds before laying his hand down.

Leonardo De Souza Eliminated in 5th Place ($145,892)

Level 39 : Blinds 600,000/1,200,000, 1,200,000 ante
Leonardo De Souza
Leonardo De Souza

It folded around to Leonardo De Souza in the small blind, who put his final 7,200,000 into the middle. Basel Chaura called from the big blind.

Leonardo De Souza: {5-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}
Basel Chaura: {8-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}

Much to Chaura's surprise, he had two overs and was content to flip for the elimination and the pay jump worth about $45,000.

The flop came {3-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}{10-Spades}, which was little help to Chaura. However, Chaura picked up an open-ended straight draw with the {9-Spades} turn.

The {6-Hearts} hit the river to give Chaura his straight and send De Souza home in fifth place.

Allis Pulls Out the Bag of Tricks to Stump De Souza

Level 39 : Blinds 600,000/1,200,000, 1,200,000 ante

Leonardo De Souza opened from the cutoff and Mike Allis called from the big blind.

The lop came {k-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} and De Souza continued for 1,400,000. Allis announced raise and initially put in 2,500,000 before having to put in the required 2,800,000 minimum bet.

De Souza seemed perplexed and had a chuckle before folding his cards.

Allis then showed {a-Clubs}{q-Spades} for an eyebrow-raising bluff that had both the table and the rail very entertained.

Action folded to Salah Nimer in the small blind, who shoved his remaining 4,400,000, equivalent to less than four big blinds. Basel Chaura called from the big blind.

Salah Nimer: {10-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}
Basel Chaura: {j-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}

The {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}{2-Clubs} flop was no help to Nimer and neither was the {5-Diamonds} turn.

The {a-Spades} completed the board and Nimer had to settle for 6th place and $112,612.

Andrew Robinson
Andrew Robinson

Basel Chaura bet 2,400,000 from middle position. Andrew Robinson moved all in for 3,200,000 from the small blind and was called by Ryan Riess in the big blind. Chaura also made the call.

Riess and Chaura checked the {a-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{8-Spades} flop. Riess bet 3,000,000 on the {5-Diamonds} turn and Chaura made the call. The {7-Hearts} landed on the river and both players checked.

Andrew Robinson: {k-Spades}{j-Spades}
Ryan Riess: {a-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}
Basel Chaura: {a-Spades}{4-Spades}

Robinson didn't connect with his hand. Both Riess and Chaura had a pair of aces but Riess had the better kicker and took the pot eliminating Robinson in the process.
